Xring O3 outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in hands-on CPU and GPU benchmarks

Xiaomi's Xring O3 chipset was unveiled weeks ago and put through benchmarks aboard a prototype device. The chipset finally made its debut on consumer models—the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max and Xiaomi 18 Fold—earlier this week, and has now also been benchmarked.
The new Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max was put through its paces by Chinese outlet Xiaobai's Tech Reviews, with benchmark numbers generally identical to the prototype machine. On Geekbench 6, the Xring O3-powered tablet recorded a single-core score of 3,699 and a multi-core score of 14,350.
Those numbers represent around a 30% CPU uplift compared to last year's Xring O1. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and A19 Pro both match Xring O3's single-core performance but are soundly beaten by the Xiaomi SoC on the multi-core side, likely due to Xring O3 having four more cores than the A19 Pro, and two more than the Qualcomm chipset.
It's a rout on the GPU side, however. On 3DMark's Steel Nomad Light test, Xring O3 scored an impressive 4,658, over 100% higher than Xring O1 managed. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5—which scored 3,163—and rivals like the Dimensity 9500, and A19 Pro, Xiaomi's new chipset also performs about 45% better, with those numbers effectively also mirrored on the Wild Life Extreme test.
Conclusively, Xiaomi's Xring O3 soundly outperforms all available mobile chipsets. Apple will present a successor to the A19 Pro today, however, with Qualcomm and MediaTek following suit over the new few weeks. It'll be interesting to see if the new flagships manage to overturn Xring O3's GPU and multi-core performance advantage.
