Timex’s rugged Ironman Adrenaline returns with a stealthy new look

Timex’s collaboration with Ironman Triathlon goes all the way back to 1984, when the pair first came together to build a rugged sports watch to meet the needs of triathletes participating in the Ironman race, one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world. More than four decades later, the partnership is still going strong, and Timex is giving its oversized Ironman Adrenaline ana-digi a stealthy look with two new watches.

Unlike the original Ironman Adrenaline, which debuted in 2024 and was offered in black with either bright orange or red accents, the new pair goes for a stealthier look. The TW5M74200 comes equipped with a sand-colored resin case and matching strap, with a black stainless-steel bezel, black side pushers, and a sand-accented crown. Meanwhile, the TW5M74100 features a black case and bezel, paired with a dark blue resin strap and a blue-accented crown.

Both measure a substantial 46.5mm across, with a 52mm lug-to-lug measurement and a 15mm-thick resin case. A stainless-steel bezel, protected crown, mineral crystal, and 100-meter water resistance give the watches plenty of durability for workouts and swimming.

On the inside, you get a battery-powered ana-digi movement that powers both the traditional analog hands and a negative LCD, along with its considerable list of training features. These include a 50-lap memory, countdown timer, daily alarm, calendar, and second time zone, while Timex’s INDIGLO backlight and luminous hands help keep everything visible in low light.

Like the original Ironman Adrenaline, the new watch also boasts a clever trick for anyone who doesn't want the digital display to stare back at them all day. You can easily turn off the negative digital display and wear the watch as a simple analog timepiece by holding the 4 o’clock pusher for four to five seconds. 

The Ironman became a defining sports watch in the 1980s and ’90s, thanks largely to its affordable price, function-first approach, and the time it spent on the wrists of everyone from athletes to former US President Bill Clinton.

Pricing & Availability

At $229 / £190 / €219, the new Timex Ironman Adrenaline models are considerably more expensive than the original Adrenaline, which was priced at $139. Both watches are available now directly from Timex's online store in the US, UK, and Europe.
