Xiaomi has officially launched the Pad 9 Pro Max in China as its first tablet powered by the Xring O3 flagship processor, with prices starting at CNY 4,799 (about $715). The tablet features a 13.3-inch 3.4K 144Hz display, up to 16GB of RAM, 120W charging and USB-C video input.

Xiaomi has officially launched the Pad 9 Pro Max in China alongside the Xiaomi 18 Fold. It is the first Xiaomi Pad to use the company's Xring O3 flagship processor.

The Pad 9 Pro Max features a 13.3-inch 3.4K display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel reaches up to 1,000 nits of brightness and has a Delta E of around 0.47. It is larger than the 12.5-inch display on Xiaomi's Pad 7S Pro, which we reviewed and also uses a 3:2 aspect ratio. Xiaomi says the format is designed for PC-level applications and productivity work.

The tablet is powered by Xiaomi's Xring O3, a 10-core all-large-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 4.35GHz. It is paired with a 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU. Xiaomi claims up to 85% higher GPU performance and 64% lower power consumption compared with the previous generation.

Xiaomi claims an AnTuTu score of 5.61 million points for the Pad 9 Pro Max. The company also says the Xring O3's CPU multi-core and GPU performance is approaching that of Apple's M5 desktop platform.

The Xring O3 supports LPDDR6 memory with bandwidth of up to 113.8 GB/s. Xiaomi says this is 48% higher than the bandwidth of the previous-generation Xring O1. The Pad 9 Pro Max is available with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The tablet also has a full-function USB-C port with DP-in audio and video input. This allows the Pad 9 Pro Max to work as a portable secondary display for a computer. Xiaomi also positions it as a larger screen for gaming handhelds and as a professional digital display.

The same functionality can be used for creative work. Xiaomi supports the Focus Stylus Pro and TourBox, allowing the tablet to work as a digital drawing display with separate pen and control inputs.

The Pad 9 Pro Max runs HyperOS 4, which adds larger-screen features such as support for up to six-way split-screen multitasking. Users can run two, three or up to six apps at the same time, depending on the layout. Xiaomi has also added more PC-like features to file management, document reading, and the browser.

The Pad 9 Pro Max measures 5.67 mm (0.22 inches) thick and weighs 645 grams (1.42 lb). It uses a metal unibody and comes in rich burgundy, black, and silver. It has a 12,000 mAh battery, which supports 120 W charging, while the tablet has eight speakers with Dolby Atmos support and six microphones.

For photography and video calls, the Pad 9 Pro Max has a 32MP front camera and a 50MP rear camera. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

Xiaomi offers the tablet with either a standard display or an optional Soft Light Screen. The latter is available on the higher-end 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB configurations.
