Huawei expands availability of 12-inch OLED tablet with iPad Pro-level thickness

Alongside a range of wearables, Huawei has presented the MatePad Air 2026 at the Munich event. This 12-inch tablet initially launched in July 2026, and the company has now expanded its availability across the EU.

For those who missed our launch coverage, the MatePad Air 2026 features a 12-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,880x1,840 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. Its peak brightness rating is at 1,200 nits, and Huawei highlights that the PaperMatte Display offers higher clarity even under bright lights.

The thin and light design is another highlight of the OLED tablet. As Huawei highlights, it measures 5.3mm, which is the same as the 11-inch iPad Pro with Apple M5, and it's said to weigh 509 grams.

Even though the tablet is thin and light, it has a relatively large battery inside. Specifically, the MatePad Air packs a 10,100mAh battery, and Huawei claims that it can offer up to 16 hours of local video playback. There's 66W fast charging support, so it won't take long for the tablet to get from 0% to 100% charge.

Under the hood, the MatePad Air 2026 has the Kirin T93C SoC, and Huawei says that it can handle heavy workloads. A six-speaker setup, 50MP rear camera, 12MP selfie camera, and support for PC-grade productivity software are among the other highlights of the tablet.

The MatePad Air 2026 is available in two configurations, and the base option with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs €799. Huawei is offering the other configuration, which bumps the memory to 12GB, at €899.
