Asus launches ROG Strix XG27ACDMSR monitor with 1,300-nit Penta Tandem QD-OLED display and 320Hz

Asus has quietly unveiled the ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMSR, a new 27-inch 1440p OLED gaming monitor that appears to be a refresh of the XG27ACDMS from 2025. For starters, both monitors use a 3rd-gen QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display, but the XG27ACDMSR adds the new EL 3.0 material and five-stack "Penta Tandem" structure, bringing a few useful upgrades.

For one, the XG27ACDMSR is brighter, reaching 300 nits in SDR and 1,300 nits in HDR, up from 250 nits and 1,000 nits on the older model. As a result, it's now certified under the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 tier. However, the panel still lacks a pure RGB stripe subpixel layout, but it gets the new BlackShield film coating. According to Asus, the coating improves black levels by 40% and increases scratch resistance by 2.5 times.

On the gaming front, the refresh rate rises from 280Hz to 320Hz. That said, the rest of the gaming and panel protection features carry over. These include G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro support to reduce screen tearing, plus ELMB to improve motion clarity. Asus retains OLED Care Pro as well, including the Neo Proximity Sensor to help reduce the risk of burn-in.

Connectivity remains unchanged, with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C port with 15W Power Delivery. The design and ergonomic adjustments are the same, so the main reasons to consider the newer model are its brighter panel, BlackShield coating, and higher refresh rate.

Pricing and availability

The Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMSR is now listed on the Asus website, but pricing and availability have yet to be announced. For reference, the older XG27ACDMS launched at $649, and is currently available in the US through Best Buy. The monitor is listed on Amazon in other countries, such as the UK.
