Last time out, Xiaomi released the Mi 11, then followed it up with the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. The company recently launched the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, and while fans may have been expecting the Xiaomi 12 Pro to make an appearance later this year, it appears that may not be the case.
According to Xiaomiui, it looks like Xiaomi actually has no plans to release a Xiaomi 12 Ultra this year. Instead, the company will launch the Mix 5 Pro as its range-leading model for the year.
Xiaomiui's rationale is solid as well—Xiaomi is yet to certify a device that should be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Xiaomi's model codenames follow a certain logic, with the Xiaomi 12 being codenamed "L3" and the Xiaomi 12 Pro going by "L2". Logic dictates that "L1" would ordinarily be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra but that codename looks to have been registered with a device that will be the Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro, with the regular Mix 5 being "L1A". There's also the fact that early renders of the supposed Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi Mix 5 Pro look surprisingly similar.
Either way, we can expect the Mi Mix 5 Pro to be an extremely premium phone. Leakster Digital Chat Station recently teased L1. The phone is tipped to feature a flagship-grade 50 MP main camera along with a high-quality telephoto lens.

Of course, the l1 series is also positioned higher, with a 50mp super-outsole main camera, as well as high-resolution super wide-angle and super telephoto and other image-oriented stacking materials. The overall situation is stronger than the previous generation.
