Nex Computer has announced the NexPad, a device that doubles as a tablet or a secondary display. The NexPad has a 12-inch display, a kickstand and costs US$249. Nex Computer hopes to ship the NexPad in July 2022.

Nex Computer has revealed the NexPad, one of two products that it has unveiled this month. Like all Nex Computer devices, the NexPad centres around utilising Android's built-in desktop mode. Similarly, the NexPad has a USB Type-C port for connecting a smartphone. It also has several magnets for mounting your smartphone when holding the NexPad. Nex Computer states that you could also use your mounted smartphone as a touchpad or secondary screen.

The NexPad has a 12-inch IPS display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel native resolution. The whole device measures 277 x 250 x 63 mm and weighs 763 g without its kickstand attached. Incidentally, Nex Computer has embedded a USB Type-C cable slot within the tablet's kickstand. Additionally, the NexPad has dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports with pass-through charging, a mini HDMI 2.0 port and a USB 2.0 Type-C port for data transfer.

Incidentally, the NexPad could be used as a secondary laptop display. Nex Computer shows that you could attach the NexPad to the top of a laptop. Presumably, the magnets in the former's front panel interact with those embedded in most laptop top covers.

The NexPad is orderable now for US$249 plus shipping. Nex Computer hopes to begin shipping the tablet in July 2022, like the NexMonitor. If you pre-order the NexPad, Nex Computer will collect US$100 immediately and a balancing payment '1-2 weeks prior to shipment'. Pre-ordering the NexPad ensures that you 'secure your price as it increases in the future'.
