Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 side-by-side images highlight the compactness of the Xiaomi 12

Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro a few days ago for the Chinese market. While the Xiaomi 12 Pro mostly maintains the size of its predecessor, the Mi 11 Pro, the Xiaomi 12 is a big reduction in size from the Mi 11, essentially making it something of a compact flagship.

Live images have now surfaced showing the Xiaomi 12 Pro right next to the vanilla Xiaomi 12 and highlighting exactly how small the latter is. The Xiaomi 12 looks to be quite a bit smaller than the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Right about as small as its 6.28-inch display versus the Pro model's 6.73-inch screen would indicate.

The Xiaomi 12's 6.28-inch display and 69.9 mm width makes it smaller than most premium phones on the market, with the exceptions of the Xperia 5 III (6.1-inch, 68 mm), Asus Zenfone 8 (5.9-inch, 68.5 mm), and the iPhone 13 Mini (5.4-inch, 64.2 mm). 

While the Xiaomi 12 may not be a true compact flagship like the iPhone 13 Mini or the Xperia Compacts of old, it debuts as, perhaps, the best option for those seeking a smaller Android device with some of the best available hardware on the market. The Xiaomi 12X is a great option as well, as it keeps most of the Xiaomi 12's specs, while being considerably cheaper.
