At this point, it's safe to say with conviction that there will, indeed, be a Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Earlier reports claimed the 12 Ultra would be replaced by the Mix 5 Pro but it appears Xiaomi plans to release a Xiaomi 12 Ultra—just not now.
As revealed by Xiaomiui, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra has now been spotted on Xiaomi's IMEI database with the model number "2206122SC". This is the first time this phone has been spotted, although we already reported the existence of a device internally coded as "L2S". That phone looks to be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Back in 2020, Xiaomi launched "J1" as the Mi 10 Pro and followed it up with the Mi 10 Ultra—"J1S"—later in the year. The Xiaomi 12 Pro was "L2", so it stands to reason that "L2S" will be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
Xiaomiui reckons that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra could make its debut in July or August, and that's corroborated by leaker Digital Chat Station. The Chinese tipster claims that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will launch in Q3, and will be powered by the TSMC-made Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
