Xiaomi 12X: Snapdragon 870-powered premium compact phone poised to bring value to the global market
Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12 series in China back in December. The company is yet to bring the phones to the global market, but it seems fans may not have to wait for much longer, as the company looks set to debut the trio of the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X globally.
Over the past few weeks, both the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro have made trips to various certification agencies across the world in preparation for a global launch. The Xiaomi 12X, for some reason, has always been absent, leading to speculation that Xiaomi wouldn't launch that model globally. That may not be the case.
According to leaker Sudhanshu Ambhore, Xiaomi plans to launch the Xiaomi 12X globally alongside its two pricier siblings. That should excite a section of the enthusiast crowd, as the Xiaomi 12X is widely regarded as being the best value option of the three. The phone features a 6.28-inch display, with dimensions that qualify it for the compact phone category. In addition, it trades in the vanilla Xiaomi 12's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for the more reliable Snapdragon 870, while also being quite a bit cheaper.
If the Xiaomi 12X does end up coming to the global market as reported, it would likely start around the €600 mark—it has a base MSRP that converts into around €450 in China. At €600, it wouldn't be considered cheap, but would still be an excellent option for those on the prowl for a small-ish, premium Android device.
