Gamers continue to find more drawbacks to the recent Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price increase. CharlieIntel on social media reported that Call of Duty players will no longer receive 10% discounts on add-ons. The news comes just after Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta testing has begun.
DLC and add-ons are an added source of revenue for Activision’s annual shooter game. Skins and cosmetic options for weapons and vehicles allow gamers to customize their experience. The affected discounts include purchases of Call of Duty points and BlackCell, an upgraded battle pass.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers may feel fortunate to have access to Call of Duty games at all. Besides PC Game Pass, it’s now the only tier that includes day one attractions like Black Ops 7. The new $14.99 Premium level will see some first-party Xbox games within a year of release, but excludes Call of Duty. Still, the price of the most expensive Ultimate saw a steep rise from $19.99 to $29.99, effective on October 1st.
Xbox Game Pass continues to lose perks
Shooter game fans aren’t the only buyers who will now have to pay full price for additional content. TheGamer noticed that sale prices on the Order of the Giants DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle had disappeared. Similarly, regardless of the subscription tier, discounts no longer show for other Xbox games like Starfield and Forza Horizon 5.
Microsoft has been under constant scrutiny in the wake of additional Xbox price increases for consoles. The rumored higher-cost subscription plans became a reality not long after. The company may no longer prioritize the Series X|S, but Game Pass remains a major selling point for the new ROG Xbox Ally gaming handhelds. While Microsoft claims the service offers more value than in the past, that hasn’t stopped a flood of cancellations.
