In our review, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra proves to be one of the best tablets currently available. Xiaomi's debut with its new XRing O1 is particularly remarkable and raises some questions.

Xiaomi's first attempt at manufacturing its own SoC has been impressively successful. In our review, the Pad 7 Ultra with its XRing O1 proved to be much more powerful than a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, which has the MediaTek Dimensity 9400. Given Google's developments with its Tensor chips, a launch at the level of the Snapdragon 8 Elite is a real statement. This raises the question of why the Pixel 9 Pro with its fourth-generation Tensor chip still lags behind its high-end rivals.

This is likely only to be Xiaomi's first step in becoming more independent from US companies such Qualcomm and their technologies. By developing its own chips, Xiaomi has more control over the required chips and can better tailor them to its own needs, which will surely find its way to global markets and the Xiaomi mid-range in the near future.

Battery life is first-class

Apart from the XRing O1, Xiaomi's flagship tablet certaintly doesn't need to shy away from premium tablets from Samsung and Apple when in terms of hardware - quite to the contrary. In our review, the Pad 7 Ultra stands out with its high-quality workmanship and, despite its larger OLED screen and more powerful battery, is lighter than an iPad Air 13

But it is precisely in terms of battery life that the Xiaomi tablet outclasses other comparable tablets. The battery delivers very good runtimes in our practical battery tests with over 21 hours in the Wi-Fi test and almost 22 hours in continuous video playback with the Wi-Fi module deactivated. Compared to a Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra lasts over 10 hours longer and can also be charged much faster thanks to HyperCharge with 120 watts.

Before buying the premium tablet, however, some hardware gaps and the limited availability should be taken into account. All further information can be found in our review
