We already knew that Oppo can build great tablets. After all, they impressed us with the Oppo Pad 4 Pro in our test course.
However, the Oppo Pad SE, which we recently tested, shows that the Chinese company can also make great offers in the price range below 350 USD. The tablet has turned out really well: A sturdy metal chassis in chic grey-blue with great workmanship, a reasonably speedy SoC and tidy software all contribute to this impression.
Above all, however, we were impressed by the large 9,340 mAh battery, which enables significantly better runtimes than many competitors. There are also speakers that sound good and an 11-inch display without PWM and with decent brightness.
Now you could say: Wonderful, Oppo has a really interesting offer here and it's sure to be a big seller, right? The problem is that hardly anyone knows about this affordable tablet with good features. The Oppo Pad SE is therefore flying under the radar for many people.
The reasons vary depending on the region: In some countries, Oppo's marketing is not very successful despite Champions League sponsorship and good products. Of course, it is also difficult to keep up with giants like Samsung when it comes to advertising budgets. However, the fact that the company has neglected its own website in Germany and Austria for years is certainly not favourable either. There used to be patent disputes here, but these have been resolved for some time now.
Oppo has also not yet ventured into North America, which is unlikely to be an option in the current political climate in the USA.
In addition, the availability of the Oppo Pad SE is not (yet) available in all international markets or is very limited. In Germany, for example, the device is currently only available from one retailer or has to be ordered from neighbouring countries. And the tablet is currently not even available on Chinese platforms like Aliexpress or Temu.
This is all a shame, because we liked the Oppo Pad SE in the test. You can find the exact reasons for our judgement, the weak points, all measurement data and sample images from the tablet camera in our detailed test report on the Oppo Pad SE.
