Trek, an e-bike manufacturer, has unveiled its first-ever throttle-equipped electric bike, the FX+ 1, in the US. The company’s urban-focused e-bike is packed with a trendy set of features and comes in two versions: the standard FX+ 1 with pedal assist and throttle support up to 20 mph (32.1 kph) and the FX+ 1S, a class 3 variant with a 28 mph (45 kph) top speed while maintaining the same throttle limit.
The FX+ 1 e-bike is equipped with an aluminum frame complemented by 27.5-inch wheels fitted with 50 mm Bontrager GR0 gravel tires and hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors. At the core of the e-bike, Trek packs a 500 W Hynea rear hub motor with 60 Nm torque, providing a top speed of 20 mph (32.1 kph) and helping riders to tackle various terrains effortlessly.
Furthermore, the motor is coupled with a UL-certified 540 Wh battery, which offers up to 50 miles (80.4 km) of range on a single charge, and a full charge takes around 5.5 hours via Trek’s new EasyMag magnetic charger. The FX+ 1 features an 8-speed Shimano ESSA drivetrain, allowing you to switch between 8 speed modes.
The sturdy aluminum frame can handle payloads of up to 300 lbs (136 kg). Other features of the FX+ 1 include integrated front and rear lights with a brake light, a Shimano M315 shifter, an alloy fork, and an LCD display that shows speed, battery levels, and other details at a glance. Moreover, you can track the e-bike’s performance and further adjust settings and maps directly from the Trek Central app (available on both Android and iOS).
Available in small, medium, and large sizes and white and dark green colorways, the Trek FX+ 1 electric bike is priced at $1,999. The e-bike is now available for purchase via Trek’s official website.
