Those wanting to save money when buying a smartphone often have to make compromises, especially when it comes to the screen and housing quality. But there are exceptions, such as the Motorola Moto G86 Power, which offers some features that aren't necessarily common in this price range. Here are three features we particularly liked:
1. Very long battery life
Thanks to a 6,720 mAh battery, the smartphone reached a whopping 27 hours of battery life in our Wi-Fi test. So, users should have be able to run the Moto G86 Power for two days without charging. Even longer under frugal use.
The dimensions and weight have only increased slightly compared to the conventional Moto G86 with its smaller battery. Fast charging at up to 30 watts allows for tolerable charging times of no more than 3 hours.
2. Sturdy and attractive casing
Even though the Moto G86 Power is significantly cheaper than true high-end phones, its build quality easily rivals that of very expensive smartphones: Its very narrow gaps and the casing make it almost impossible to bend.
Those who prefer a more understated look can get a dark gray version. Those who prefer it more colorful can choose from three Pantone colors: red, light purple and light green. The casing is also water and dust resistant, and Gorilla Glass 7i provides solid screen protection.
3. A very bright screen
At this price level, one could be forgiven for thinking that Motorola has surely made cuts to the screen quality. After all, it is a very important but also expensive component. Surprisingly, Motorola has installed an OLED screen on the Moto G86 Power, which shines with great HDR capabilities thanks to a brightness of up to 3,865 cd/m².
Color reproduction and grayscale are also very accurate. PWM is available, but at a high frequency and with a relatively low response.
All of these points are impressive, but we also found some negative aspects of the Motorola Moto G86 Power. Readers can find out what these are and our final rating in our detailed review of the Motorola Moto G86 Power.
