In 2109, HMD Global released the Nokia 800 Tough as a feature phone with a rugged build. Now, a leak has revealed that HMD is planning to release a successor. The source has also provided a few details of the upcoming model.
According to the leaker that goes by smashx_60 on X, HMD will release a Nokia 800 Tough 2nd Gen (official name not confirmed). However, based on the few details provided by the source, it appears it won't be a big upgrade but a minor refresh of the six-year-old phone.
The post on X says the upcoming Nokia 800 Tough will have a USB-C port to replace the MicroUSB port on the 2019 model. It also states that the new model will ship with KaiOS 3.1. For context, the original shipped with KaiOS 2.5.2.
While the rest of the specs are not known, it is expected that the new Nokia 800 Tough will have at least an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and an MIL-STD-810 rating.
The leak also includes a render of the upcoming phone, and it shows that HMD will be keeping the design of the original, down to the black color. However, it will add its own logo to the back of the phone, alongside that of Nokia.
There's no info on when the new Nokia 800 Tough will be announced and how much it will sell for, but considering the 2019 model cost €110 at launch, we can expect a similar price tag.
