The HMD Touch 4G will be officially unveiled on October 9, as HMD Global has already confirmed in a teaser. Initial images from leaker @smashx_60 provide a preview of the smartphone's design. Similar to the HMD Skyline, the phone appears to have a design inspired by older Nokia Lumia smartphones. The device will be available in turquoise and dark blue.
However, the Touch 4G is extremely compact with a screen diagonal of just 3.2 inches, despite the very wide bezels above and below the display. These house a selfie camera, a speaker and a home button. The transparent plastic packaging is quite reminiscent of the packaging of an Apple iPod Nano, although HMD Global includes a charger, cable and a transparent protective case.
The HMD Touch 4G is said to be a feature phone that does not come with a full version of Android and so only offers a limited range of functions. Among other things, the leaker mentions cloud apps, limited Google services and the option of making contactless payments.
The packaging does, however, confirm that the phone supports group chats and Wi-Fi. Details on the rear camera, the processor or the display are still pending, but these are expected to be confirmed at the launch on Thursday at the latest. The leaker explicitly states that the HMD Touch 4G will also be launched in Europe, although it is still unclear how much the feature phone will cost.
