The new HMD 101 4G and the HMD 102 4G are practically identical: both phones have a strongly rounded casing and a 2.0-inch display with a resolution of only 160 x 120. The slightly more expensive HMD 102 4G differs from the HMD 101 4G primarily in its single rear camera, although this only has a resolution of 320 x 240 or 0.08 MP.
The LED flash is at least useful as a flashlight. The phones support two SIM cards and can access a number of cloud apps via LTE for checking the news or the weather forecast. However, the phones do not support web browsers or social media apps. At least HMD Global includes both a radio and an MP3 player app. Music can be stored on a microSD card with a maximum capacity of 32 GB.
Headphones can be connected either via the 3.5 mm headphone jack or wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0. The 1,000 mAh battery is said to provide 6.5 hours of call time and is charged via USB-C. The IP52 certification only promises protection against light splashes of water. The S30+ operating system comes with a version of Snake pre-installed. Inside the phones is a Unisoc 8910 FF-S, supported by 24 MB of RAM and 16 MB of flash storage.
