3rd – Acer Swift 3 SF314
The Acers Swift 3 is a laptop for everybody. It is affordable, well built, it offers decent performance mixed with high portability, good input devices, and a great display. Instead of a card reader you get Thunderbolt 4, a worthwhile trade if you ask us. Its FHD IPS display offers wide viewing angles, popping colors, and a good contrast ratio.
Despite its compact size the notebook has its internal components under (thermal) control and manages to get more performance out of Intel’s Core i5 than many other notebooks.
The Intel Core i7-1165G7-equipped SKU is currently available on Amazon for $640 while the slightly faster Ryzen 7 5700U-equipped model is listed for $650.

4th – HP Envy x360 13 (i7-1250U)
The latest Envy redesign brings numerous quality-of-life changes over the previous model. The higher-resolution webcam, roomier 16:10 aspect ratio, USB-C charging, PCIe4 SSD support, larger clickpad, and improved heat dissipation make the new Envy feel more like a high-end ultrabook than a mid-range machine.
Simple design, but with many noticeable improvements over last year, making the 2022 Envy x360 13 one of the better mid-range convertibles around.
In the US, HP Envy x360 13 (i7-1250U, 16 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 2.8K display) is available for $899.99.

The ThinkBook 13s is currently available from around $999 on Amazon US.

6th – Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen2
Lenovo's ThinkPad L-series is often even the choice above the T- or X-series for price- and quality-conscious customers. Rightly so, and accordingly the ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 AMD is also a slim, but still very robust 13-inch ultrabook with an AMD processor, which not only has a very positive impact on performance, but also on battery life, temperatures and noise!
The Thinkpad L13 G2 AMD offers high performance with equally high battery life, combined with an outstanding keyboard and a durable design.
The ThinkBook 13s with Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U is currently available from around $855 on Amazon US.

7th – Asus ZenBook 14X OLED (AMD version)
Affordable OLED laptop: Asus offers its ZenBook 14X not only with Intel, but also with AMD processors. This brings a price advantage, the model with AMD is already available for under $990. However, some points like Thunderbolt, Nvidia graphics card and Screenpad, i.e. the second display in the ClickPad, are omitted.
Those who opt for the Zenbook 14X will get a lot of display, spiced up with a strong 45-watt computing power and a high-quality, stable build.
The Asus ZenBook 14X OLED (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H version) is currently not sold in North America.

8th – Huawei MateBook 14 (AMD)
The MB14 is a very good subnotebook for everyday use with a high-quality case, a comfortable keyboard, a quiet mode of operation, and a very good subjective image quality. Thanks to its more attractive price the AMD model is more interesting than the Intel model, and some retailers are already selling the MateBook 14 2021 for around 850 Euros. Its competitors, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 and the Acer Swift 3, cannot keep up with this laptop when it comes to their respective displays.
Less performance than two years ago. Huawei replaced the CPU with a newer one and chose a slower yet more efficient U-model. Overall, the MateBook 14 remains a good subnotebook.
Huawei devices are not available in North America.

9th - Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360
The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 features an AMOLED display as well as a number of features, such as stylus input, all packed into a sleek design. The laptop offers plenty of performance in a slim case proving that adequate performance and thin cases are indeed compatible.
