After an allegedly planned, earlier Xiaomi 15 Ultra launch date in China was recently shelved, new information about the launch of the ultimate Leica camera flagship in 2025 is now available, this time in the form of a specific date. And the information should very much be reliable this time, as Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing recently made a concrete statement about the launch of the successor to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in a recent broadcast (via Kartikey Singh).
According to Weibing's words, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, just like its predecessor, but the MWC will take place a few days later next year, specifically from March 3 to March 6, 2025. According to Indian leaker Yogesh Brar, March 2 is currently the target date, which makes sense because most major announcements are made on the weekend before the start of the most important mobile tech exhibition of the year.
And something else is likely to be on the launch schedule for Sunday, March 2, namely the global version of the Xiaomi 15, which has already been available in China since the end of October. Once again, Xiaomi fans worldwide will have to wait more than four months for the global version to become available; the Xiaomi 15 Pro, which was also launched in China, is once again unlikely to be available internationally.
All previous leaks have indicated that the Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra will lose the variable aperture on the 1-inch main camera, and the ultra-wide angle may also shrink slightly, which would then make space for a larger 200 MP telephoto behind the approximately 5x zoom lens. Xiaomi may have also made last-minute changes to the battery, which could well reach the 6,000 mAh level.
