Samsung Galaxy S23+ – A high-end smartphone with impressive battery life
Samsung has undertaken a cautious overhaul of its Galaxy S23 flagship smartphone series. Unlike the Galaxy S22 range, all three new Galaxy S23 smartphones come with a completely new SoC. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy replaces the Samsung Exynos 2200 and not only provides a significant boost in performance but also ensures the new edition of the 2023 premium range enjoys considerably better stamina than its predecessors.
Some of the best staying power you can find in an Android smartphone
Compared to the Galaxy S22+, the Galaxy S23+'s battery has only minimally increased in capacity (from 4500 mAh now to 4700 mAh) and helps keep expectations in check regarding longer battery life. However, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy being significantly more economical than the Samsung Exynos 2200 this results in much better runtimes after all.
For example, in tests, the Galaxy S23+ managed almost 20 hours of simulated internet surfing, while the Galaxy S22+ admitted defeat after a little over 13 hours. All in all, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ has some of the best battery life you can currently find in an Android smartphone.
System updates guaranteed for 5 years
Samsung has one powerful selling point in the form of long-term updates. Android OS upgrades are guaranteed for 4 years and security updates for 5 years. The countdown started in February 2023 - the time of the global release. Samsung plans to distribute Android security patches on a monthly basis. Amongst other things, additional features include an adaptive 120 Hz display with much-improved four-digit brightness, a good 50 MP triple-camera system, 5G with Dual SIM and eSIM, an ultra-wideband chip (UWB) as well as WiFi 6E.
The only disadvantage with this facelift: Compared to its predecessor, the entry-level price has unfortunately increased. Back then, Samsung asked for $1,049 for the Galaxy S22+ with 8/256 GB, making it $50 cheaper than the Galaxy S23+ which officially starts at $1,099. However, the device can already be had for a little less at some online retailers.
