Samsung Galaxy S24 entry-level model to be slower than necessary, according to insider
In contrast to practically the entire rest of the high-end Android world, Samsung will once again be offering flagships with just 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in 2024, at least on the small Galaxy S24. This has been emphasized several times by leakers in the past and was later also confirmed by a retailer leak and recently surfaced Samsung promo material.
So if you plan on buying the cheapest model in the Galaxy S24 series you might be penalized in several ways. First, the 8 gigs of memory in a phone presumably advertised as an "AI phone" with many on-device AI features and 128 GB of storage could both turn out to be a bit too small in 2024, even if you don't plan on recording lots of 4K or 8K footage.
The basic version could be even more limited, however according to a post in the South Korean Naver forum based on information from a component manufacturer. Once again, a UFS 3.1 module is likely to be used in the 128 GB version instead of UFS 4.0 in the 256 GB and 512 GB models. Even if the difference in the performance of these modules is probably less noticeable in everyday life than the UFS specs suggest, 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage can hardly be called flagship material in 2024.
