More and more users are reporting that their Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been rendered unusable by an attack via Samsung Knox, and Samsung's support is apparently unable to restore the flagships to working order in many cases.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra ($1,299 on Amazon) has not yet attracted attention due to serious security vulnerabilities, but the situation is getting worse with the four-year-old Galaxy S22 Ultra. As Android Authority has discovered, users on Reddit and in the Samsung Community Forum are reporting that their Galaxy S22 Ultra has been rendered unusable by a potential attack.

The process of the problem is always the same: After an affected Galaxy S22 Ultra is reset to factory settings and the setup process is completed, the message "This Galaxy S22 Ultra isn't private" appears, along with the note that the smartphone is managed by a company and all data stored on this smartphone can be viewed by an administrator. This is Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME), a feature that allows companies to centrally manage an entire fleet of smartphones.

The problem: the affected smartphones come from private users, the ominous company "Numero LLC" apparently does not even exist. In some cases, the smartphone cannot be set up at all. In others, it is still possible to use the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but as unknown attackers gain full access to sensitive data, this is not recommended. According to user reports, neither authorized Samsung dealers nor Samsung support can solve this problem, even if users can prove that they bought the smartphone for private use.

Samsung has not yet officially commented on this problem. Anyone affected currently has no other option than to contact Samsung support, even if they are unable to help in many cases. In any case, affected smartphones should no longer be used.
