Apple could unveil its first foldable in September and it’s going to be an expensive offering. The iPhone Ultra, or whatever it ends up being called, is said to feature a wider aspect ratio than typical foldables, and also pack more battery than all of Samsung’s offerings.

This year will mark the arrival of Apple’s first foldable, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra. Of course, Apple has not confirmed anything about said phone but the industry has been talking about it for the past several months. Quite a few features and specifications for the iPhone Ultra have been mentioned already, and the latest leak shares more details, including the battery capacity.

The information comes from the Front Page Tech (fpt) YouTube channel and the video (linked below) shows not only 3D renders of the iPhone Ultra but also shares key details about the internals and the design. Starting with the crease, Jon from fpt says it will be just 0.15 mm - as previously leaked - and that would be partly thanks to Samsung’s panel technology, which will also feature in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8. Apple is said to be using a liquid metal hinge design with 3D printed parts which also contributes to the minimal crease.

The Pixel-like camera island will include a primary and an ultra-wide shooter, both at 48 MP. On the inside though, Jon claims that Apple has versions of the iPhone Ultra with an under-display camera. What this means exactly is unclear and whether Apple uses an under-display camera in the final version remains to be seen. And, there will be no Face ID on either of the selfie cameras, as Apple is going with Touch ID instead.

What’s most impressive is that Apple seems to have managed to outclass Samsung with its very first foldable, at least in the battery department. The iPhone Ultra is said to come with around a 5,800 mAh battery which is quite a bit more than what Samsung offers in its Galaxy Z Fold lineup. The Galaxy Z TriFold packs 5,000 mAh and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, as well as the Z Fold 8 Wide, are said to feature 5,000 mAh batteries as well.

Other specifications include 12 GB of RAM, the A20 Pro chip, and the C2 modem. In terms of dimensions, the iPhone Ultra is expected to come in at 9.5 mm when folded. When unfolded, it is said to measure 4.5 mm. This makes the larger battery even more impressive and Jon states that was possible thanks to the smaller display driver.
