The iPhone Ultra is expected in September and it will be Apple’s first foldable smartphone. Expectations are high as Apple is joining the party quite late and it looks like the company will only match, not beat, the current champion Oppo when it comes to display crease.

Even though Apple has not confirmed anything about working on a folding iPhone, supposedly called iPhone Ultra, quite a few leaks and rumors have hinted at the phone being unveiled in September this year. The reason why Apple has entered the foldable market so late is because of the crease experience. The Cupertino giant wants the best possible solution to minimize the crease and it has finally found one. Even still, it won’t beat out the current best in the market.

According to a post on Weibo by Fixed Focused Digital, Apple’s foldable will surpass most competing brands on the market, “most” being the keyword here. One manufacturer that Apple won’t be able to surpass is Oppo. The leaker states that the iPhone Ultra’s crease will be comparable to the Oppo Find N6, almost invisible to the eye but a shallow feel when touching.

With the Find N6, Oppo achieved something no other manufacturer has been able to do with folding phones. It uses a combination of an improved hinge mechanism and an Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass to achieve a visually invisible crease. Apple is said to be using a combination of Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and an Optically Clear Adhesive (OCA) that fills the gaps. This will deliver an almost crease-less experience, but not better than the Oppo Find N6.

Another area where Oppo most likely has the iPhone Ultra beat is the battery. The Chinese manufacturer uses Silicon Carbon batteries in its foldable but Apple is likely sticking with more traditional cells. That being said, the iPhone Ultra is expected to surpass Samsung’s foldables with a 5,800 mAh battery, fairly higher than the rumored 5,000 mAh Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup.
