There are increasing indications that the Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL will have RGB LED lighting, which is called Pixel Glow. There are already hints of this feature hidden in the code of the Pixel Diagnostics app.

The successor to the Google Pixel 10 Pro ($985 on Amazon) was already shown in render images in March, according to which the flagship smartphone has practically no design innovations apart from adjustments to the camera module. However, the potentially most exciting innovation was apparently not yet visible in these images, which are based on CAD files.

Because shortly afterwards rumors indicated that Google is planning a feature called "Pixel Glow", i.e. LED lighting. While the position and design of this lighting are not yet known, it is conceivable that it will be designed as a ring around the camera module, which would explain why the entire module now has a glass surface. Android Authority has now found references to Pixel Glow in the code of the Pixel Diagnostics app. The diagnostics app tests the LEDs in the colors red, green and blue to make it easier to diagnose defects.

The app thus confirms that RGB LEDs are used instead of just white LEDs, as is the case with the Nothing Phone (3a). The app's code also contains the terms "PixelLights", "Gemini Glow" and "Aurora", suggesting that the Pixel Glow LED lighting is also used to provide users with visual feedback when Google's AI assistant is used. Whether Pixel Glow will actually come onto the market as part of the Pixel 11 series, or whether Google will decide to postpone or even scrap the feature, will only become clear at the launch of the Pixel 11 Pro.
