Google's "Pixel Glow" feature on the Pixel 11 series will likely have a completely different name
Pixel Glow—this was first mentioned in very early Pixel 11 leaks back in April. The feature was later discovered in Google’s code and officially showcased in teaser videos. The code leak in question had already suggested that "Pixel Glow" might not be the final name for the design feature, which can be used for incoming notifications or Gemini activities, for example.
In addition to Pixel Glow, Google's code also mentioned names like “PixelLights,” “Gemini Glow,” or “Aurora,” which suggested that Google might not have decided on a final marketing name for this feature. However it now appears that this feature might be called "HiLight" instead of "Pixel Glow". At least that’s what Dylan Roussel, a developer from France claims on X, saying he has found confirmation for that name. Of course we have to "hilight" that this does not mean that it has been officially confirmed by Google.
Pixel 11 HiLight alerts you to important activities
The new feature, a potential successor to the notification LEDs that were once very common on cell phones, should be particularly useful when the Google device is face down. “HiLight” can then alert you to important activities, such as incoming calls from favorites. It remains to be seen whether third-party apps will be able to access this feature in the future.
