The OnePlus 15T is the epitome of the extreme leap in quality of Chinese smartphones regarding battery and camera software in recent years. However, our review has revealed a significant compromise resulting from the compact housing, which was not immediately obvious.

In our review (currently not available in English), the OnePlus 15T impresses with a great overall package, as the compact Android phone starts at a price of under 600 euros, available at Trading Shenzhen, among others. However, there is a catch regarding availability.

Due to its handy dimensions, as was to be expected, certain compromises must be made with the smaller sibling of the OnePlus 15 in terms of the camera setup. Nevertheless, the OnePlus phone still performs very well compared to Samsung's Galaxy S26 devices.

The potential disadvantages in photo quality are already recognizable from the spec sheet of the 15T model. However, our test also reveals another weak point that could not necessarily be expected from the technical specifications.

The compact Android smartphone cannot fully convince with its speaker system

In our reviews, we standardly measure the speaker system to determine whether audiophile users will get their money's worth with the smartphone—this is also the case with the OnePlus 15T. In the pink noise diagram, the compact OnePlus phone shows that it is one thing above all else: not an audio expert.

The OnePlus phone has significant weaknesses, especially in the sound foundation, the lows. Here, for example, a Samsung Galaxy S26 has significantly more bass to offer. For the mids, the OnePlus 15T presents itself as more balanced; however, our measurement reveals slightly underrepresented highs. Almost all frequency bands are below the median, and the super-tweeters in particular drop off significantly.

At around 82 dB, the OnePlus 15T also reaches only a comparatively low overall volume, accompanied by increased background noise. In our measurements across the entire frequency spectrum, about 86 percent of all tested smartphones are better than the compact OnePlus phone. You can find all measurement data for the OnePlus 15T here. For those interested in a handy Android phone who value clear highs and bass and often use their mobile for sound reinforcement, a Galaxy S26 or Xiaomi 17 is clearly the better alternative.
