The OnePlus 15 was highly anticipated. After all, the phone is somewhat cheaper than other flagship phones, yet still offers plenty of power and a very stylish design.
A particularly interesting feature of this Chinese smartphone is its new, significantly more powerful 7,300 mAh battery. But does this significantly higher capacity translate to longer battery life?
We initially only carried out the Wi-Fi test
The large battery presented us with a problem, as our battery tests, which we always have to run in full for comparability reasons, took a correspondingly long time, namely several days.
So, we initially published our comprehensive review of the OnePlus 15 only with our most important test: the Wi-Fi test, which most closely reflects the everyday life of many users. The OnePlus 15 performed well here, achieving well over 30 hours of battery life. Since most smartphone users do not constantly use their devices everyday life, this should easily be enough for about two to three days of typical smartphone use.
The other battery tests for the OnePlus 15 took longer
The idle test, in which the phone is only minimally stressed, took the longest: we measured over 66 hours here, meaning the phone was not touched for over 4 days. For comparison, the OnePlus 13, its direct predecessor, lasted just under 38 hours in this test.
The video test, in which a high-resolution film is played on a loop from the phone's internal storage, lasted 36 hours and 31 minutes. Here, the OnePlus 15 does indeed falter somewhat and can only outperform the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which has a significantly smaller battery, by a few hours.
Long gaming sessions are possible
Under very high load, such as when gaming or using very demanding apps, the OnePlus 15 lasts 4 hours and 11 minutes, according to our benchmark test. This is not quite enough for a long train journey or a long-haul flight, but most forms of public transport now have power outlets.
Verdict
It's fantastic that the battery revolution has finally reached smartphones, and the capacity increases are becoming even more significant. The OnePlus 15 lasts noticeably longer than its predecessor and requires charging far less frequently.
Further information, such as the charging times we measured, can be found in our detailed review of the OnePlus 15.
