OneOdio OpenRock S launch with 16.2mm dynamic drivers and Open Air Conduction Technology
OneOdio mainly pitches its new IPX5-rated OpenRock S at those with an athletic lifestyle due to the "ergonomics" or having an ear-hook that secures the non-in-ear bud just outside the ear; then again, they might be attractive to anyone who can no longer tolerate the opposite.
These new accessories are rated for air conduction rather than bone conduction, although OneOdio asserts that their audio will be "Directional" rather than also heard by everyone around the user. They have space for relatively large dynamic drivers compared to some in-ear buds, enhanced by Dynamic Audio Algorithms and Patented TubeBass Technology for "impeccable sound quality across all music genres".
The OpenRock S buds cannot make a formal claim to ANC due to their design, although they do boast 4 "advanced AI-powered microphones" for noise cancellation. Their markedly long and slim case is rated to sustain a total battery life of up to 60 hours (or 19 without the case) and to support "fast" USB type-C charging.
OneOdio's new air-conduction buds also boast support for the aptX codec as well as AAC and SBC over up-to-date Bluetooth 5.3. They are available either from AliExpress or direct from the OEM for US$89.99/€84.95/£73 in Black or Light Khaki, and are projected to join potential rivals such as the SHOKZ OpenFit on Amazon in September 2023.
