Xiaomi has launched a new pair of headphones in China. Already available globally via third-party retailers, the headphones use bone conduction to transmit sound, rather than traditional drivers. The Xiaomi Bone Conduction Headphones also offer Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, IP66 dust and water resistance, plus up to 12 hours of battery life.

The Bone Conduction Headphones are one of Xiaomi's latest audio products and wearables. As its name suggests, the headphones rely on bone conduction to reproduce sound, not traditional drivers. Theoretically, the technology allows you to listen to music without placing something over or in your ears while also allowing you to maintain awareness of your surroundings. Additionally, bone-conduction headphones should produce little to no sound bleed, as many earbuds and headphones do.

According to Xiaomi, its Bone Conduction Headphones weigh 28 g and offer IP66 resistance against dust and water ingress. Moreover, the headphones support Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, as well as Qualcomm aptX, aptX Adaptive and SBC. Incidentally, Xiaomi claims that the earbuds deliver approximately 86 ms latency and should last up to 12 hours between charges. Furthermore, the included USB Type-C port can deliver two hours of playback by recharging the device's 165 mAh battery for just 10 minutes.

So far, Xiaomi has only launched the headphones in China, where they retail for CNY 699 (~US$96). Already orderable in Xiaomi's home market, it is unclear whether the company plans to release them elsewhere, such as in North America or Europe. However, the likes of Giztop already carry the Bone Conduction Headphones, should you wish to order them from outside China. For reference, Giztop charges US$129 for the headphones and ships globally. Please note that this is a third-party retailer, not a first-party one, like Xiaomi's eCommerce platform is.
