A 16-inch convertible laptop can be unwieldy in many ways, but they can nonetheless be versatile across a wide range of usage scenarios. The OmniBook X Flip 16 recently took us by surprise for its combination of specs and price especially when compared to its immediate competitor the Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1.
As shown by the table below, the HP convertible comes with the same Intel Lunar Lake CPU as the Dell but in a thinner, lighter, and longer-lasting design with a superior 3K OLED touchscreen. The Mini-LED panel on the Dell doesn't offer much of an advantage as its maximum brightness of ~642 nits is only slightly brighter than the ~561 nits of the OLED HP when playing HDR content.
One may suspect the HP model to be more expensive, but the configuration below retails for only $1300 (or just under $1000 when on sale) compared to $1450 for the Dell. Some users may still prefer the Dell for its integrated numpad whereas this feature is missing on the HP. Even so, the HP model excels in most other aspects to the point where it becomes easier to recommend over the Dell for the majority of interested buyers.
