The 2025 Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 is now shipping to directly replace the 2024 Dell Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 and Inspiron 14 7440 2-in-1. In a perfect world, the newer model would include all the features of its predecessor while adding new ones, but in reality a number of features are dropped or replaced.
The most notable features found on the Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 but not the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 are the SD card reader and the second USB-A port. Users who rely on card readers for file transfers may therefore find the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 to be a little less convenient. RAM is not removable on the newer model either whereas the 2024 model has two SODIMM slots for memory expansion.
Do the dropped features lead to a lighter and faster system? Unfortunately not as both the 2024 and 2025 models weigh around 1.6 kg each with similar processor performance. In return, the 2025 model includes a larger battery pack (64 Wh vs. 54 Wh) to aid in battery life.
Users who want AI acceleration from the Ryzen AI 7 350 may still want to consider the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1, but traditional office tasks like browsing, spreadsheets, light editing, and video streaming will only be marginally faster on the pricier newer model at best.
