The HP OmniBook X AI 14 is a compact 14-inch laptop featuring a Snapdragon X Elite processor that enables very good battery runtimes. However, HP has cut some corners in key areas that raises eyebrows and affects the overall impression of the laptop.

While other brands may chase ultra-premium materials or flashy OLED panels, HP has instead focused on nailing the fundamentals with the Omnibook X 14: good battery life, reliable productivity performance, a sturdy build, and a $2,099 price point that’s easier to justify if you're just looking to get work done without paying extra for style. But it’s not flawless, of course. The display lacks colour vibrancy, and I’m not entirely comfortable with its low brightness levels. Then there’s the chassis – while solidly built, it doesn’t quite carry the same visual polish or refinement as some of its competitors. That said, the Omnibook X 14’s battery life is excellent, and that alone is a major selling point if you're often working on the go.

The HP Omnibook X is a solid Windows ultrabook that provides excellent endurance and solid power in quite a lightweight and portable chassis. Its IPS display is decent, if a little unremarkable against similarly-priced rivals, though. For instance, the Acer Swift 14 AI features similar grunt from its Snapdragon X Elite SoC, while comes with a higher-res OLED panel that also benefits from a smoother refresh rate for better motion. It also has even longer battery life for a similar price to the Omnibook X 14, and a stronger port selection. HP’s choice is a generally decent one in its class, but isn’t the best you can get. Not to be confused with the similar Envy x360 16, the OmniBook X Flip 16 features the newer Intel Core Ultra 7 Lunar Lake processor for better gaming and multimedia performance than any other 16-inch convertible powered by integrated graphics.

The HP OmniBook X Flip is my new go-to for recommending midrange convertibles. It does everything you could ask for out of a slim laptop, and does it with style. The keyboard is a joy to type on, the touchpad is good (although it's not a haptic one), and it has a decent port selection. Most laptop purchasers want battery life, performance, and a good screen, and the OmniBook X Flip has all of those, whether you pick the 14-inch or 16-inch version. The onboard speakers are slightly better on the larger model, but that's about the only difference I could point at after a month of extended use. Get the one that fits your backpack and be happy. But before you do, double-check the discounts on the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip, because the flagship is sometimes cheaper than the midrange.

The £/$1,000 laptop price class is insanely competitive, as every Windows laptop maker tries to offer their own MacBook Air alternative. HP may have a unique entry on its hands with the Omnibook X Flip 16, as despite feeling slightly underpowered at its price point, its 2-in-1 function is executed perfectly, making the Omnibook a compelling (very) big-screen tablet option. That alone should make it a supremely tempting choice for visual artists in particular.

The OmniBook X Flip 16 is a great all-rounder. It's well built, lovely to use, and the balance of power and stamina make for a laptop that's as happy sitting on a desk as it is coming on your travels. And whether it's work or play, the OLED touchscreen is a delight. There is room for improvement here, naturally. Firstly, we'd strongly recommend opting for the pricier 32GB model, and secondly, we really wish the speakers were better. If HP could find a way to get a more full-bodied audio experience, this would be a nigh-on perfect laptop for the home – or the home office. Even as it stands, though, this is one of our favourite laptops of 2025 so far. If you've got around £1,400 to spend on a laptop, the OmniBook X Flip 16 should be very near the top of your shopping list.

This is the sort of laptop you’ll buy to have around the house and do just about anything with. If you work from home it’s even better, easily keeping up with office work and 2D creative tasks. Being able to flip it into its various configurations to use as a media consumption device, or to draw with the stylus, just makes it more appealing. Its GPU is underpowered, and a version of this with a low-end Nvidia GPU in it would make a lot of people happy, but would also slash the battery life and increase the price even more. As it is, the OmniBook X Flip is a versatile machine with an excellent screen and battery life that goes on and on, and really that should be good enough.

I really do not know why the HP OmniBook X Flip 16 2-in-1 design hit me as it did. There is this subtle line on the bottom that sort of curves out and makes this laptop look really nice. The color of the laptop is also stunning, and while it does grab some fingerprints, it’s not as bad as some other laptops. It’s also lightweight for a 16″ laptop. The 3K OLED display on this unit is vibrant and punchy, with deep blacks, crisp whites, and an excellent brightness level. The Intel 258V paired with 32 GB of RAM is excellent and handles my video editing and photo editing with ease. The fans rarely kicked in on this unless I was rendering something heavy in 4K. The speakers are just okay; the soundstage is decent, but they do lack a bottom end. They do get the job done though. Battery life is outstanding, as expected with this 258V under the hood.

While the display is impressive and the battery life admirable, the OmniBook X Flip 16 is hamstrung by too many odd choices and disappointing features, making it difficult to recommend. It's also not exactly priced to entice, leaning into territory inhabited by more capable machines (many of which include discrete GPUs, with all the gaming and creative advantages that come with them). For the price of the OmniBook X Flip 16 I tested, if you're not getting a dedicated GPU, then you should rightly expect a better keyboard, touchpad, webcam and speakers. For significantly less than the Flip 16's price, you can grab an Acer Swift Go 16, which also includes a beautiful OLED panel and outperformed the Flip 16 on the majority of our benchmarks. While the Swift can't match the Flip 16 for battery life and doesn't offer two-in-one functionality, it makes for a much cheaper date if you want a big-screen OLED laptop for home use.

HP is currently on a hot streak with its releases, and I hope it continues into the foreseeable future. Normally, prices for this laptop are regularly priced around $1,200. My particular build is currently on sale for $899 at HP's website. A variant of the HP OmniBook X Flip 16 housing a 2TB SSD is available at Best Buy for $1,350. If you want a computer with a great display that doesn't turn into a tablet, I strongly suggest the Asus Vivobook S 15. It boasts similar performance and hardware with a gorgeous 3K OLED screen.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 16 is a bit hit and a bit miss, almost in equal measure. On the one hand, it feels well built and has a nice, albeit plain look to it. It has a big, gorgeous display as well. But it also makes confusing choices like having huge grilles that do almost nothing. Its keyboard prioritizes form over function. And a 16-inch tablet over four pounds probably won’t be practical for most people, especially without reliable palm rejection. Then there’s the performance. It simply doesn’t take full advantage of the hardware, in many cases getting outperformed by lower-tier hardware. Perhaps it would have worked better had HP used all of its grilles to get more airflow and heat dissipation. But it didn’t. And in spite of that, the OmniBook X Flip 16 is on the expensive side.

The HP Omnibook X Flip 14 is a capable 2-in-1 device with solid power and excellent battery life in a premium-feeling chassis that also has a solid set of ports. The letdown with this laptop is its screen, especially with subpar colour accuracy, which makes it somewhat hard to recommend for creative purposes. The likes of the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition and larger-screened Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 are more powerful by a little bit, but have much stronger OLED screens that are better all round and make those candidates a lot better-suited to creative tasks. This is a decent laptop otherwise, with strong ports, excellent battery life, and decent performance from its mid-range Intel processor. I haven't really pointed out any major negatives in this review, and that's because, at nearly ₹1.5 lakh, the Omnibook X Flip delivers the kind of flagship thin-and-light experience you'd expect. It packs an immersive 3K OLED touchscreen in a foldable form factor, is lightweight and ergonomic for on-the-go use, and offers one of the most comfortable keyboards I've typed on in a while. Put simply, it feels like the complete package. Of course, if I had to nitpick, there are a few things. Windows still isn't fully optimised for a touchscreen-only workflow, the audio output leaves room for improvement, and the lack of a fingerprint reader is noticeable. Competing laptops in this range also offer slightly better battery life, though none of them double up as a convertible. At the end of the day, those quibbles are just that: nitpicks. The HP Omnibook X Flip is an excellent all-rounder that blends performance, portability, and premium features into one very compelling machine.

After three months of daily use, the HP OmniBook Flip X has proven itself as a capable 2-in-1 laptop that blends portability, performance, and AI features. At a starting price of Rs 1,14,999, it is clearly aimed at professionals and creators who want more than just a regular Windows machine. The OLED display is one of its strongest points, offering crisp visuals and smooth performance with its 120Hz refresh rate. The design is slim, light, and sturdy, making it easy to carry and flexible to use in different modes. Performance on the Intel Core Ultra 5 processor with 16GB RAM has been reliable for everyday tasks and light creative work, while AI-powered tools like Poly Camera Pro and Poly Audio genuinely improved our video calls and virtual meetings.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is a mixed bag. It’s a beautifully built 2-in-1 with a fantastic, sharp OLED display and a rock-solid hinge. For general productivity, it’s fast and capable. But its strengths are undermined by three weaknesses: a keyboard that isn’t the most comfortable for fast typing, average graphics performance, and a battery that leaves you wanting. If you are a student or professional who primarily works with documents and the web, values a great screen for watching videos, and loves the flexibility of a 2-in-1 design with an included pen, the OmniBook X Flip could be a good fit. However, if you need a machine for creative work, professional gaming, or a full day of untethered use, this "jack of all trades" unfortunately masters too few to earn a strong recommendation.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 surely delivers a flagship thin-and-light experience at around Rs. 1.5 lakh price tag. The device comes with a premium and minimal-looking design, while the display is surely one of the biggest highlights. The 3K OLED touchscreen provides vibrant colours and deep blacks, making the whole viewing experience pleasurable. The performance is decent, and it can handle most of the workloads throughout the day. That said, the keyboard, in my opinion, could have been better, while the audio experience is sub-par compared to the rest of the competition. That said, if you are looking for a thin and light laptop that delivers a premium design and decent performance, then you can consider this machine.

HP: Founded in 1939, the US company is a major server and printer manufacturer and one of the leading IT companies in the world. Until 2015, the company was called Hewlett-Packard Company. After a split, the computer division was renamed HP Inc.
In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that four Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors feature, as of Sep 2024. It has 1,536 unified shaders at its disposal that are said to run at up to 1,250 MHz. The underlying architecture is reportedly in many respects the same as what was used in the Adreno 730. While thankfully faster than the aging Intel Iris Xe (96 EUs), the Adreno fails to match the Radeon 780M meaning Baldur's Gate 3, a triple-A title released in 2023, is barely playable at 1080p on low with 23 fps on average. Triple-A games of 2024 fare even worse, in no small part due to Qualcomm's subpar graphics drivers.
Intel Arc 140V: A pretty fast integrated graphics adapter that higher-end Intel Lunar Lake family processors employ. This is a direct successor to the Arc 8; it can drive three SUHD 4320p monitors simultaneously via HDMI 2.1, eDP 1.5 and DP 2.1. With the 140V, all 2023 and 2024 games are playable at 1080p on low graphics settings.
Intel Arc 130V: An integrated graphics adapter that lower-end Intel Lunar Lake family processors employ. This is a direct successor to the Arc 7 iGPU; DirectX 12 Ultimate is fully supported here and the iGPU also supports hardware-decoding a long list of popular video codecs such as h.266 VVC, h.265 HEVC, h.264 AVC, AV1 and VP9. It is clear the 130V isn't fast enough to run most triple-A 2024 games at 1080p. However, it's still more than good enough for an occasional gaming session Helldivers 2 and Ready or Not run perfectly well at 1080p / Low.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X:
SD X Elite X1E-78-100: A pretty fast ARM architecture processor (SoC) for use in Windows laptops. The X1E-78-100 is the least powerful member of the Snapdragon X Elite processor series, as of May 2024; as such, it has 12 Oryon CPU cores running at no more than 3.4 GHz and the 3.8 TFLOPS Adreno X1-85 GPU. The 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, an impressively fast LPDDR5x-8448 memory controller, USB 4.0 support, TB 4 support and PCIe 4 support are included as well.
Intel Lunar Lake:
Core Ultra 7 258V: An upper mid-range Lunar Lake family processor. It sports 4 new Skymont E-cores and 4 new Lion Cove P-cores running at up to 3.7 GHz and 4.8 GHz respectively, along with the new Arc 140V iGPU and 32 GB of on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. It essentially matches the Core Ultra 7 165U and Core i7-1360P in multi-thread performance and it eats up to 37 W when under short-term workloads.
Core Ultra 5 226V: One of the 2 slowest Lunar Lake processors as of Nov 2024. It features 4 new Skymont E-cores and 4 new Lion Cove P-cores running at up to 3.5 GHz and 4.5 GHz respectively, along with the new Arc 130V iGPU and 16 GB of on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. The 226V's level 3 cache is pretty small as compared to more expensive Ultra 7 2xxV and Ultra 9 2xxV chips at 8 MB vs 12 MB. Its multi-thread performance is very close to the R7 7730U and the R7 7735U, and it eats up to 37 W in short-term loads.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
16.00:
This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
