Reviews for the HP OmniBook X 14
The HP OmniBook X AI 14 is a compact 14-inch laptop featuring a Snapdragon X Elite processor that enables very good battery runtimes. However, HP has cut some corners in key areas that raises eyebrows and affects the overall impression of the laptop.

While other brands may chase ultra-premium materials or flashy OLED panels, HP has instead focused on nailing the fundamentals with the Omnibook X 14: good battery life, reliable productivity performance, a sturdy build, and a $2,099 price point that’s easier to justify if you're just looking to get work done without paying extra for style. But it’s not flawless, of course. The display lacks colour vibrancy, and I’m not entirely comfortable with its low brightness levels. Then there’s the chassis – while solidly built, it doesn’t quite carry the same visual polish or refinement as some of its competitors. That said, the Omnibook X 14’s battery life is excellent, and that alone is a major selling point if you're often working on the go.

The HP Omnibook X is a solid Windows ultrabook that provides excellent endurance and solid power in quite a lightweight and portable chassis. Its IPS display is decent, if a little unremarkable against similarly-priced rivals, though. For instance, the Acer Swift 14 AI features similar grunt from its Snapdragon X Elite SoC, while comes with a higher-res OLED panel that also benefits from a smoother refresh rate for better motion. It also has even longer battery life for a similar price to the Omnibook X 14, and a stronger port selection. HP’s choice is a generally decent one in its class, but isn’t the best you can get. Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that four Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors feature, as of Sep 2024. It has 1,536 unified shaders at its disposal that are said to run at up to 1,250 MHz. The underlying architecture is reportedly in many respects the same as what was used in the Adreno 730. While thankfully faster than the aging Intel Iris Xe (96 EUs), the Adreno fails to match the Radeon 780M meaning Baldur's Gate 3, a triple-A title released in 2023, is barely playable at 1080p on low with 23 fps on average. Triple-A games of 2024 fare even worse, in no small part due to Qualcomm's subpar graphics drivers.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
