The HP HyperX Omen 15-ga0000tx is a 15.3-inch gaming laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-14650HX processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 graphics. It includes 24 GB of DDR5 memory, PCIe storage, and a 1920 × 1200 IPS display with a 165 Hz refresh rate. Reviewers praise its sturdy construction, comfortable controls, capable cooling, quiet operation, and strong processor performance. Its 70 Wh battery also supports comparatively long everyday use. However, the RTX 5050 performs below similarly equipped competitors, weakening the laptop’s gaming value. With an overall rating of 60%, it is difficult to recommend unless heavily discounted, especially when RTX 5060 alternatives cost about the same.

The HyperX Omen 15 is best viewed as a speedy-enough everyday laptop with gaming chops. Its sturdy build, comfortable input devices, quiet operation, and long-lasting battery life make it suitable for work, school, and general productivity. However, graphics rendering performance and value matter most in a budget gaming laptop, and the RTX 5050 model we tested trails rival systems with the same graphics chip. At the same time, you can find RTX 5060-based laptops for similar cash if you dig enough. Unless this exact Omen configuration gets a steep discount, the MSI Katana 15 HX remains the better pick for budget gaming performance.

The HP HyperX OMEN 15-ga0028TX gets many of the fundamentals right. It has a sturdy chassis, a comfortable keyboard, a useful selection of ports, straightforward internal access and a cooling system that maintains performance without producing excessive fan noise. Its display is particularly good and CPU performance is another strength. The Core i7-14650HX handles modern games and multi-threaded productivity workloads comfortably. From a purely-FPS perspective, those laptops do better in most games but there will be times when you’d have wished for a better CPU. So it’s a choice, either you can compromise on the GPU and get the HyperX OMEN or compromise on the memory and get the competing units. But if you really want an HP laptop, then the RTX 5060 variant is a better buy.
