Priced at US$299, the GeForce RTX 4060 is Nvidia's most affordable desktop GPU from the RTX 40 lineup. Released yesterday, it arrived alongside the 536.40 software package. Sadly, the new GeForce Game Ready Driver does not arrive with any new GeForce Experience optimal settings presets and the list of G-Sync monitors remains unchanged as well.
The GeForce RTX 4060 arrives less than 2 months after the more potent (and expensive) RTX 4060 Ti. According to its maker, this card is an excellent upgrade for gamers who are still enjoying their favorite titles at 1080p. For example, those moving up from the RTX 2060 will get an average 2.3X performance increase across a suite of 18 games tested by Nvidia, while those who are upgrading from the GeForce RTX 1060 will get nearly 4X the framerate, as well as DLSS and ray tracing support.
In addition to the improved performance, the RTX 4060 also comes with power savings. While the RTX 3060 has a TDP of 170 W, its younger sibling settles for 110 W. Taking into account 20 hours of gaming per week, Nvidia calculated savings of roughly US$130 in the UK and Germany, and US$57 in the US (for 4 years in all cases).
As usual, the new driver can be installed directly from within the GeForce Experience app or by visiting Nvidia's webpage dedicated to GeForce drivers.
