AYA NEO AIR 1S to launch soon with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U and other upgrades
AYA NEO is continuing its mid-cycle refresh of its current gaming handheld product stack. Last month, the company opened pre-orders for the AYA NEO 2S and GEEK 1S, which featured a few tweaks from the AYA NEO 2 and GEEK, respectively. Arguably, the inclusion of an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U is the biggest change for the pair, which brings with it Zen 4 CPU cores and an RDNA 3-based iGPU.
Now, AYA NEO has confirmed that it will soon be offering the same APU in the AYA NEO AIR, re-branded as the AIR 1S. Additionally, the AIR 1S gains LPDDR5X RAM, a new stereo speaker system and a revised cooling system. The new gaming handheld retains its predecessors' 5.5-inch AMOLED panel though, which still outputs natively at 1080p in a 16:9 aspect ratio with 350 nits peak brightness and 99% DCI-P3 colour space coverage.
Moreover, the AIR 1S has hall effect joysticks and triggers, plus an x-axis linear motor. AYA NEO also maintains a 38 Wh battery, which is down on the capacities of the ASUS ROG Ally, Steam Deck or the GPD Win 4. Hence, the AIR 1S is likely to have worse battery life than its predecessors and its competitors. AYA NEO has not confirmed when the AIR 1S will be available, but the device's Indiegogo campaign is already viewable in preview mode.
