AYA NEO 2S and GEEK 1S pre-orders open with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APUs
AYA NEO has now opened pre-orders for its first AMD Ryzen 7 7840U-powered gaming handhelds. To recap. The APU is already available in the AOKZOE A1 Pro; ASUS uses a version of the same APU in the ROG Ally too. As expected, AYA NEO has brought the powerful APU to market through the AYA NEO 2S and GEEK 1S, the full specifications of which the company has outlined in the screenshot below.
Currently, the Ryzen 7 7840U is AMD's most powerful U series APU, thanks to 8 CPU cores, 16 threads and a Radeon 780M iGPU. The Zen 4-based APU also has a 15 W TDP, 16 MB L3 cache and 5.1 GHz peak CPU clock speeds. Ultimately, the Ryzen 7 7840U proves a good match for the custom APU in the Steam Deck, although Valve's gaming handheld still performs better at lower wattages.
AYA NEO's new gaming handhelds are available to order through Indiegogo. At the time of writing, the cheapest way to obtain the Ryzen 7 7840U is by ordering the GEEK 1S with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, which sells for US$699. Alternatively, the AYA NEO 2S starts at US$949 with the same memory configuration. As always, AYA NEO offers numerous memory configurations, with 64 GB of RAM and a 4 TB SSD for the AYA NEO 2S, or 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD for the GEEK 1S. AYA NEO estimates that it should start shipping Indiegogo pre-orders in July.
