MSI launches world's first 27-inch 5K Dual Mode gaming monitor with 300 Hz gaming mode

The MSI MAG 271KPD7 combines two display modes in a single monitor. It runs at its native 5K resolution (5,120 × 2,880) with a 75 Hz refresh rate, but MSI's Dual Mode Ultra feature lets users switch to WQHD (2,560 × 1,440) at 300 Hz with a single click.

The 26.9-inch Rapid IPS panel has a pixel density of 218 PPI at its native resolution. MSI lists a minimum 0.5 ms GtG response time, 350 nits of SDR brightness, and up to 500 nits in HDR.

The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space, 92.6% Adobe RGB, and 122.9% sRGB. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium and is certified as Nvidia G-Sync Compatible.

MSI has also added several software tools aimed at gaming. These include AI Vision, AI Crosshair, AI Navigator and AI Dual Mode through the company's Gaming Intelligence software. A built-in KVM switch lets users control more than one connected system with the same keyboard and mouse.

The port selection includes one DisplayPort 1.4a, two HDMI 2.1 ports, one USB Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 15 W Power Delivery, two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-B upstream port, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. 

This monitor also supports Picture-in-Picture (PiP), Picture-by-Picture (PbP), HDMI CEC, and console gaming at up to 120 Hz on supported resolutions.

The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot, and up to 130 mm of height adjustment. MSI has also integrated the power supply into the monitor and includes support for 100 × 100 mm VESA mounts.

If you are looking for an OLED option instead, MSI also sells the MPG 321URX (curr. available on Amazon), which offers the company's Triple Mode technology with refresh rates of up to 240 Hz.

MSI has listed the MAG 271KPD7 on its global website, but pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
