Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8
The Huawei MatePad Pro is the latest addition to the Huawei family. The MatePad Pro has been said to be Huawei’s Android-based answer to the iPad Pro, and it definitely aims to give Samsung’s high-end Galaxy Tab S6 a run for its money. In order to create an immersive media experience along with effective mobile productivity, Huawei has worked extensively on this model by bringing a lot of premium tablet features to the MatePad Pro. As far as the exterior is concerned, the MatePad Pro features a sleek and lightweight form factor comprising a beautiful 10.8-inch display with a punch-hole selfie snapper for user convenience. In addition to that, there is also a flash-supported camera on the back. The device is powered by Huawei’s top-of-the-line chipset, the Kirin 990, making the MatePad Pro one of the fastest tablets that we could have ever possibly used. This is also backed up by 8 GB of RAM for user convenience.
Undoubtedly, this tablet looks and feels premium with a sturdy build, narrow bezels and micro-curved edges, which allows the slate to sit comfortably while being handheld. Apart from that, the excellent palm rejection allows gripping on the edges of the tablet without having to worry about unintended input. The MatePad Pro is also super portable and fits easily into backpacks, and it also comes with reverse wireless charging. It should also be noted that the tablet supports a couple of optional accessories. Huawei’s M-Pencil that magnetically snaps to the tablet to draw charge is one such example of an accessory that can be used with the tablet. The M-Pencil is perfectly fine for quick notes and doodles, but it gets rather tedious when used in longer sessions. While the M-Pencil is definitely a great accessory to be used, it is not as refined as Apple’s Pencil or Samsung’s S-Pen.
As for the keyboard, the MatePad Pro has a magnetic snap-on keyboard that doubles as a folio case. But it should be noted that the keyboard is definitely not the best out there, with limited screen-tilt options and the lack of a track pad. As far as the software is concerned, Android devices in general have a lot of catching up to do to match the refined iPad OS experience, but the flexibility and perks which Android offers can obviously make up for this.
However, it should be noted that the Huawei MatePad Pro has no headphone jack and only features a single USB-C port, which might turn out to be a drawback for some users. Despite the lack of headphone jack, the Harmon Kardon quad-speaker setup delivers satisfying audio while watching videos or listening to music. Another possible drawback in the tablet has to be the lack of Google Mobile Services. While this is not entirely an issue for all users, some might consider it as a factor which works against the device. Overall, the tablet has its own high and low points to be considered by the users before owning one.

The MatePad Pro offers plenty of features, a modern design, and high-quality materials. But is that enough to stand up to the top dogs in the tablet field, the Apple iPad Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S6? Our review of the Huawei tablet casts some doubts...

Well, despite the throttling issue, where it drops the performance by 25% after 20 minutes of playing games, the tablet has one big issue, that can be more painful – the lack of Google Play services. Indeed, you can download pretty much every app out there via its APK installation file, but honestly, we do miss Gmail, Drive, Maps, and the rest of the suite. Not that it’s not impossible to make your way around that either, but it is just more time consuming, and thus – less convenient.

Some marketing person at Huawei cooked up a plan to make a "lifestyle experience" as Apple calls it and that, of course, involves "consumers" - people - spending and spending and spending again. The buds are of high quality, the tablet is probably the best on the market - if it wasn't for the China-US trade wars.

On the face of it, the MatePad Pro faces the same problems as the Huawei P40 Pro Plus. Thanks to the US trade sanctions, it doesn’t have access to Google’s apps, Play store or services – and many popular apps rely upon the latter.

A great-looking tablet with lots of power, a great feature set, slinky bezels and versatile software. However, there's no Google Play Services - it's Huawei's App Gallery instead - which may mean you can't get access to all the apps you want in the conventional way. Whether you see that as a problem in a tablet that can function like a little PC when you add the keyboard is up for debate.

The MatePad Pro is yet another impressive piece of hardware whose appeal is limited by circumstances outside of Huawei's control. The lack of Google services will be a deal-breaker for a lot of people. If you exist completely outside of Google's ecosystem, though, you'll find plenty to like here, including solid audiovisual performance, and useful productivity and multitasking features. It's still early days for Huawei's own ecosystem, though.

As a complete hardware package, the MatePad Pro is absolutely worth the £499 asking price. Hardware isn't everything, though, and the reality of the Huawei-US trade ban hobbles what would otherwise be the best affordable Android tablet on the market.

In most cases, I’ll say yes. The MatePad Pro is indeed a very good alternative to a basic laptop – but that truly depends on what you use on a laptop. For me, I use the MatePad Pro like how I use my MacBook Air (2013). That’s an old laptop and it lags a lot. The Huawei MatePad Pro can do what I want it to do – so why not migrate everything to this tablet instead?

The MatePad Pro is a high-end bit of kit when it comes to hardware, sporting a lightweight design, detailed 10.8in display and Huawei's Kirin 990 chipset alongside handy features like 7.5W reverse wireless charging and support for the Bluetooth-enabled M-Pencil and keyboard case. The problem, like all Huawei products at the moment, is the lack of Google Mobile Services. You can download a bunch of apps from Huawei AppGallery and sideload others, but you'll never get Google-branded apps (along with Pro-level Adobe apps) that rely on GMS to work. That might be fine for some, but it'll be a dealbreaker for many.

While we've yet to fully put it through its paces, the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G is a theoretically potent competitor to the iPad Pro from a hardware perspective. But, like Huawei’s smartphones, it's hampered by a lack of apps and services. In our eyes, such things matter less for a product that is fairly stationary, but it still creates a barrier to entry that customers should not have to contend with. That, alongside software bugs, makes this tablet difficult to recommend in its current form.

There are still some gremlins that need workarounds, and if your company is on Google Apps, for example, then you’ll want to steer clear, but ultimately, for £499, you could do a lot worse than the MatePad Pro. It undercuts the Galaxy Tab S6 by around £120, and offers competitive features paired with premium design.

While I can probably live without some of these things with Huawei’s latest P40 phones (the stunning cameras make up for a lot) it feels like it’s more of a sacrifice here. Until there is support for apps like Netflix, proper HD streaming in other areas and more apps to take advantage of the power the MatePad Pro isn’t for everyone.

There are several reasons to love the MatePad Pro - powerful innards, zippy performance and a gorgeous screen, all packed in a svelte form factor. It’s got all the makings of the best Android slates out right now, but an obstructed software experience means it won’t be for everyone.

That said, the specs and functionality of the MatePad Pro 5G are top-tier, and the design is stellar too. Given the fact tablets are less integral to day to day life than phones, the MatePad could come off better than the Mate 30 Pro. Kindle Fires have been Play Store free for generations and are still going, after all.

But hands-on sessions and real life use are two quite different things. Huawei is still blocked off from Google apps, meaning that as soon as you wanted an app beyond what came pre-installed you’d become rather annoyed you weren’t using an Apple tablet, or any other Android tablet like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6. I expect the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G to end up like Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro flagship phone: respected for its tech, but not a good buy for anyone but the Huawei faithful.

Euro pricing for the MatePad Pro is a little high, with the most affordable version dropping at around 549 Euros which translates to around Php 30.4K in our local currency. But always keep in mind that Euro pricing for Huawei products have historically been higher compared to their eventual pricing when they launch locally.

The case for 5G tablets is as yet, unproven, but by getting in early Huawei will certainly gain some fans. The lack of Google apps aside, this is a superb Android tablet.

There’s a lot to like about the MatePad Pro, from its classy (if slightly unimaginative) design to its seriously powerful hardware and well-designed add-ons. The issue comes with the apps that can take advantage of all this and while that can be a big issue with regular Android tablets, it’s even more of a problem without access to the Play Store.

The Huawei MatePad 10.4 is affordable but still has quite something to offer. An octa-core SoC, up to 64 GB of storage, 4 speakers and optional extras such as LTE support and a digital input pen make the 10.4-inch tablet a real all-rounder for multimedia, games and surfing the web. Google services are the only thing that is missing to make this package complete.

Even if you compare it with other gaming laptops from ASUS ROG, Predator, or MSI in the price range, I'd still choose the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro because of features like the 16:10 aspect ratio. Also, the ports for most gaming laptops are either on the left or right side, so having them behind is a bonus for me. That said, if you prefer desktop PCs, you're better off in the long run with building your own PC using that amount of money.

This is our Huawei MatePad 10.4 Long-term Experience. As most of us are staying at home, having an Android tablet can be really helpful for work and fun for the whole family to use! This tablet is loaded with features, including a wide 10.4-inch display, Sound by Harman Kardon, LTE connectivity plus expandable storage, and of course, the Huawei M-Pen support.

Overall, the MatePad is a fairly worthwhile tablet to purchase. It's best used as an extra tool for multitasking work or if you like reading e-books online, as well as to watch or stream videos. For RM1399, the MatePad is easily an affordable tablet that anyone can set their eyes on. Another worthwhile mid-range tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, though that costs RM1699 with the same screen size of 10.4-inches and an additional 3.5mm audio jack. You can learn more about that table by reading our review here. The choice is yours.

A substantial Tablet in that the screen is over ten inches, it runs Android 10, however as you probably know Trump had a falling out with Huawei and because of that certain features cannot be included, probably the biggest miss is the Google Store for Apps.

Concluding, the MatePad 10.4 delivers some great performance for the price. Amazing battery as well as sound along with a good display make it a great tablet for media consumption, online classes heck even as a first device for young children. The only downside would be the missing Google Services.

When people ask me for tablet recommendations it’s usually difficult to make recommendations, especially if it’s an Android. Things are easier now that we have better tablet options like the MatePad. Priced at PHP 20,990, here’s a tablet that is portable, has a good display, great speakers, long battery life, M Pencil support, and good performance. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but it’s one of the best mid-range Android tablets you can buy right now.

The Huawei MatePad T8 is a sub-100-Euro (~$118) slate. This is why certain compromises had to be made hardware-wise. If you only had the specifications sheet of the MatePad T8 in front of you, you would probably think it was a tablet from 2017, not 2020.

Despite the low price, the Huawei MatePad T10s wants to be the go-to tablet for everything. However, the entry-level tablet reveals some weaknesses in our review that are better solved by a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 and other such competing tablets.

Okay, let’s finally talk more about the price. Locally, the Huawei MatePad T 10s is available for PHP 12,999. And honestly, we think it’s a pretty good deal. It’s not the best out there, but you get what you pay for, and maybe even more with the ample storage and high-quality audio.

Being the middle child of Huawei’s expanding MatePad line, the MatePad T 10S gives an ideal balance between the more expensive MatePad and the more affordable MatePad T 10 and T 8. It has the niceties of the MatePad with its Full HD display, USB-C, and Harman Kardon-tuned speakers, while having a price that is more accessible to consumers.

The Huawei MatePad T10 has an enticing price of PHP 6,999. With almost half the bigger sibling’s price, the T 10s, the trimmed down aspects seem to be very reasonable. But if you are going to buy this entry-level tablet, be sure to manage your expectations.

The 2021 Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2021) is just the same as its 2020 model except for an updated processor and GPU. For the price of PHP 18,999, you’ll get pretty good sounding speakers, long battery life, M Pencil support, and good performance for its class. However, it can be a bit difficult to recommend to users who are not accustomed to sideloading. If you are a first-time buyer of a tablet, we suggest you look at some other brands. But if you are already in the Huawei ecosystem, the Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2021) isn’t a bad choice because you can take advantage of EMUI’s features like Huawei Share, Screen Mirroring to a Huawei laptop– if you have one, and MeeTime, which can level up your productivity experience.

While it may seem that it is more an incremental upgrade to last year’s MatePad, our review of the Huawei MatePad 2021 in the Philippines shows that the processor upgrade does give this model a boost in terms of performance and added features like WiFi 6 connectivity. Overall, the 2021 MatePad is a better offering than the 2020 version especially if you chose to not get the latter last year.

The Huawei MatePad 11 is a very capable mid-range tablet that supports pen input. Furthermore, the slate can be paired with a keyboard. The MatePad 11 comes with Harmony OS and without Google Services. In day-to-day use, this proved to be less limiting than we expected.
Source: Zdnet.com

Focusing on the tablet itself, the MatePad 11 is well made, with good battery life and decent speakers. The all-inclusive price for tablet, keyboard and stylus – currently £399.99 in the UK -- is not excessive. The big drawback may end up being HarmonyOS, which won't suit everybody, particularly when it comes to app support.

Tablets aren’t a device that everyone wants or need these days. Adding to the complexity of the buying decision is the fact that the Matepad 11 is an unfamiliar operating system despite the presentation and similarities to both Android and iOS. Without the established userbase, there’s no doubt that the cost ($949.00 for the tablet and $239 for the folio case) will deter a lot of buyers. You can get an iPad Air or Samsung Tab S8 with a case and the sure knowledge that your apps will all be available for that money. A segment of the market will certainly appreciate this tablet; I believe, though, that this is a small segment. Users need to make too many sacrifices on acquisition unless their workflow is entirely web-based and detached from Google services. If the time comes when offerings like Office 365 are available and — however unlikely — Google services are back, it will become a very attractive option.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, easy-to-use tablet, that has productivity, creativity, and entertainment capabilities, then I heartily recommend the Huawei MatePad 11. The display is lovely, the software runs smoothly, and the device is eminently portable. Whether you're using it standalone, or integrating into existing your Huawei ecosystem, the MatePad 11 is a great device that stands out from many of its Android-powered rivals.

The current state of HarmonyOS and the Huawei AppGallery is a culmination of the company’s efforts to overcome the U.S. trade ban. HarmonyOS has definitely helped rejuvenate its software identity a bit, but it hasn’t done a whole lot for the actual state of Huawei’s affairs. It’s still stuck in a loop of playing catch up in getting major apps on its devices. I think that Huawei’s attempt at pulling away from the Android branding has only helped it to get so far. Stepping away from the Android brand was supposed to help it identify as something else, as “Android” is perceived in the wider world to need Google. If it’s not Android, then why would it need Google? I don’t think it’s worked quite as well as it hoped though, even if the devices it’s making are powerful and nice to use. I think the biggest loss here is one to consumers though. Consumers want choice, and choice drives innovation as companies try to outdo each other. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus is great, but it’s all there is if you’re looking for an Android tablet.

The Huawei MatePad 11 comes with top specs, a fairly long-lasting battery and a great-looking screen, making it a worthy Android-alike tablet. Its low price will appeal, too, in particular to students looking for a tool for work and play. However, the app situation is an issue, due to Huawei's problems in that area, and while lots of popular apps are available, there are still a few key ones that aren't, or don't work properly.

The bottom line is… the Huawei MatePad 11 is an excellent tablet. It’s just the right size, unlike the MatePad Pro 12.6, which is a bit too large in my opinion. This tablet is really comfortable to use, and you’re getting plenty of screen real estate. The build is top notch, while the speakers are excellent. The performance is also great. Don’t count on using those cameras and getting good results, though, while the software is good, but it’s not for everyone. If you’re dependent on Google, this is definitely not a tablet for you. If you can live without its apps / services, the MatePad 11 (2021) is a tablet you should consider getting.

In conclusion, Huawei has managed to make a good mid-range device. In this case, the flagship model (MatePad Pro) is not radically different from the non-flagship model. This is not to say that users are deprived of something critical, and the difference in price is pleasant. The screen is IPS, not AMOLED, but still good, there is one camera instead of two, the processor is weaker, but still good enough. Really, we can congratulate Huawei on a good start and look forward to the success of the new tablets on the market. The most important thing is how users will receive them. Share your impressions!

The Huawei MatePad 11 with Android 11 or 12 on it would have been a wonderful option for those that like this form factor, if only it were possible. But with HarmonyOS 2.0 on it instead, this device isn’t yet a serious alternative to the substantial Google infrastructure. Those that don’t like Google probably have iPads already, and relatively few in the West would choose Huawei over Google or Apple. HarmonyOS might well carve out a successful future in China, but for westerners it cannot replicate why Android became so successful and continues to be the most prolific mobile platform on the planet. That’s a real shame because the hardware Huawei created here is excellent.

Coming in at RM1999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage MatePad 11, the hardware is high level enough to replace certain laptops and there are no contenders with exactly the same features at the moment. However, if you're looking for similar alternatives, there is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite which also offers S Pen Stylus support with a 10.4-inch 2K display but it offers a more midrange Exynos 9611 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage for RM1699. There are also the recently announced Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro tablets which offer similar features for less at around RM1307 but it's still not confirmed how much they would actually be priced here in Malaysia just yet. So, would you be interested in getting the Huawei MatePad 11 to go with your brand new Huawei MateBook D15? There are also the recently announced Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro tablets which offer similar features for less at around RM1307 but it's still not confirmed how much they would actually be priced here in Malaysia just yet. So, would you be interested in getting the Huawei MatePad 11 to go with your brand new Huawei MateBook D15? The Huawei MatePad 11 (2021) certainly fills the need for a mid-range tablet that’s not made by Apple in the Philippines. There’s still the question about app availability of course, though the good news is that there are even more apps available nowadays through Huawei’s AppGallery than ever before.

Huawei's MatePad 11 is a solid all-rounder and offers high-end features and experience for a reasonable €400-500 price tag, depending on the region and storage variant. It has a bright high-refresh-rate display, good battery life, excellent accessory support, powerful SoC and four nice-sounding loudspeakers.

The Huawei MatePad 11 is a well specced tablet with a smooth 120Hz display and a fair price tag for what you pay for that’s ideal for everyday use, light paperwork duties and content consumption. What elevates it over a standard issue slate is the fact that it can act as a screen extension in tandem with a Huawei MateBook laptop which makes it useful for mobile workers and those working from home. The lack of Google is irksome to overcome but Huawei has made significant inroads in making the tablet effective with a slew of apps useful for Malaysians. If you’re not tied into Google’s services, the MatePad 11 is well worth a look.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Huawei MatePad 11, because unlike some other Huawei devices from the past few years, we could generally use it as our regular workstation. It has loads of apps, a good-looking screen, a powerful processor and a long-lasting battery. That’s not to say it’s perfect, and the lack of paid apps, aforementioned software issues and slow charging were irritating. As we said, we tried to write this review on the tablet and couldn’t, though depending on the apps you use, you might not find the issues we did. We also can’t write a final verdict until we know how much the MatePad costs, and therefore what value-for-money proposition Huawei is making.

Average Score:
The 32-centimeter Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 tablet is one of the largest Android tablets. The performance is also top, because the OLED tablet competes directly with heavyweights like the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 and Samsung's Galaxy Tab S7 Plus with its high-end HiSilicon Kirin 9000E SoC. However, Google apps are not installed.

Huawei knows a lot about tablets. The manufacturer has created a cool top-of-the-line device. It is almost perfect. It has a gorgeous large OLED screen with a frequency of 120 Hz, which displays a juicy picture. And the power reserve of the device is impressive. During the entire time of use, the tablet has never failed in any of the tasks. And there were no problems with application compatibility. Except with account identification. The new OS works very quickly. And how this novelty, with an advanced eight-speaker system, sounds: clear and loud. I didn’t turn on my speakers even once during the test. A nice bonus is reverse charging, which transforms Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 (2022) into a mat for recharging gadgets. And the autonomy of the tablet did not disappoint. The price is a bit high, but this fact should be taken for granted. If you want a top-end device, you need to be prepared. The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 with its ultimate functionality and performance to date is very close to the ideal, if it exists at all. This is definitely a successful tablet with a developed ecosystem. Supplemented with accessories, it can easily replace a laptop, becoming a powerful tool for work and entertainment. Recommended.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 was released earlier this summer as the company’s most premium tablet. With HarmonyOS, this device is the first Huawei tablet to debut with the software out of the box. This tablet has nice build quality and an amazing display. It’s battery life is among the best too. But it’s software is full of shortcomings, which makes it hard to recommend to anyone outside China. Its display is nice but it only has a 60Hz refresh rate, and the tablet’s camera system disappoints.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 is a killer tablet if you just look at the hardware, with speakers that show how much of a difference genuinely decent audio can make for mobile gaming and movie-streaming. Its screen is great and battery life is long. However, it’s impossible to ignore that the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 feels a bit like what you’d get if Amazon decided to make a really, really expensive Fire HD tablet. Huawei and Amazon tablets don’t get the Google Play app store, and that means access to games and apps is severely limited. You can only get around this so much by side-loading apps, itself a security risk, so bear that in mind before deciding the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 is a better deal than an iPad Pro 12.9 or Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+.

The Huawei MatePad Pro (2021) is a slick piece of hardware that certainly stands out as one of the more capable tablets around. With blazing-fast processing, a crisp vibrant display, and a decent stylus, the core package offers everything you’d want and helps to justify the price tag. Despite app procurement still being a mess, Huawei seems more eager to push its multimedia ecosystem front and center to better compete with the likes of Apple, Google, and Samsung. But at the moment, the services have neither the content nor the refinement to command premium subscription prices. The company also seems to think users like to be bombarded with notifications, emails, and texts from its advertising partners. Huawei might want the ad money, but this has the adverse effect of cheapening its tablet experience and interfering with the core usability of its apps.

Now you’d most likely consider a Pro tablet like this as an alternative for a laptop, and it can do so even without a Desktop Mode available. Just be ready to consider using other office apps that aren’t Google to be more efficient. So yes, if you highly rely on Google apps, then I don’t really recommend this one unless you’re willing to adapt. It has a more reasonable price for its specs than Apple’s iPad Pro; however, it still falls down to the lack of Google Mobile Services. This would’ve been the best Android tablet yet. But we’ll never know with Huawei, the development of HarmonyOS was a big step, and who knows what further improvements they can make.

Considering the MatePad's relatively high price in markets outside of China, that's going to make it a tough sell for a lot of people. Huawei is asking for iPad money, without anything close to what Apple's tablet ecosystem can offer. It's early days for HarmonyOS, and there are some promising signs in what Huawei has managed to build here. But unless you've already fully bought into the Huawei world across all of your devices.

It should come as no surprise that my final verdict on the Huawei MatePad Pro (2021) is pretty much the same as any other Huawei device I’ve reviewed over the last couple of years. The United States’ foreign policy isn’t Huawei’s fault, of course, but the consequence is still the same. No matter how great the hardware is, the lack of Google Play means it remains an infuriatingly tough sell outside of China. Sure the price is tempting and it’s absolutely up to snuff in every other area but the MatePad Pro’s current software will leave you wanting more.

Our review for the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 in the Philippines shows that it’s a great tablet on its own, though many of the enhancements that HarmonyOS bring give it that extra push especially on the multitasking front. It’s a powerful tablet that has a great screen, though it still has the same familiar problems that plagued their earlier devices. Even though Huawei contends the tablet uses a brand new OS, it still relies on Android apps to do anything useful, and like before if your workflow relies on any app that uses GMS, you should steer clear. This is a shame – the hardware on offer in the MatePad Pro 12.6 is incredibly compelling. Though if you’re willing to put in the work to find equivalents or replacements to the stuff you use on Huawei’s AppGallery and Petal Search Engine, the result is that you get to enjoy one of the best tablets available in the market today. At least, if you have the money for it.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 (2021) truly is a marvel. Anyone who needs a tablet for anything creative would, and should, be desperate to get their hands on one. Unfortunately though, because it runs on Harmony OS 2, you’re very limited in which apps you can download from the Huawei AppGallery. So for a lot of people, it just won’t be right.

The MatePad Pro 12.6 represents a return to form for Huawei. The excellent display and speakers, smooth performance and polished interface make the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 a surprisingly worthy contender, more so for its sub-RM4,000 price tag inclusive of its Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pencil stylus. Short of highly specialised applications or a very Google-centric workload, the MatePad Pro 12.6 is able to meet the needs of most mainstream users in Malaysia, made more so by its surprisingly decent price tag for a premium tablet.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 is one easily likable tablet for its attractive design, great OLED screen, fast performance, powerful speakers, incredible battery life and capable HarmonyOS. Huawei is definitely on the right track with the Android-based operating system and has spruced it up with enough features to make it tablet-worthy. M-Pencil works great, too, and if you like drawing, you'll like it how it's done on the MatePad Pro.

As much as we enjoy Huawei's HarmonyOS software for getting work done, the MatePad Pro's 12.6-inch display and versatility of the added stylus and keyboard, there are a couple of things that'll likely stop people from buying one compared to an Apple iPad. First: it's not readily available at time of writing, so you can't actually buy it. Second: being based on Android means you don't get the same level of apps that an iPad enjoys. Add to that the fact that Huawei's AppGallery still lacks a lot of popular games, and it limits the experience somewhat. However, if what you're after is a tablet to help you get work done, and you're an Office 365 user, or don't mind going down the APK route to install apps like Paper by Dropbox or Slack, then the usability and flexibility of this Huawei tablet as a work machine might just make the compromises worth it.

At the accessory level, the touch keyboard and stylus have completed another round of iterations, which makes Huawei the only manufacturer in the tablet market that is still confronting Apple head-on. At present, I believe everyone has heard about the difficulties that Huawei has encountered in recent years from the external environment. Under such a predicament, Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6-inch is still able to achieve more powerful technology and functions than before. HarmonyOS has begun to take shape. Both software and hardware are presented to users with a very high degree of completion, which is very valuable.

Huawei has been smart. It’s recognized Android tablets suffer from poor, phone-optimized interfaces that pale when compared to iPadOS. So while the MatePad Pro can’t compete on app support, with some inspired (by Apple and Microsoft) enhancements that transform the Android tab experience, it does something great. Use it more like a Chromebook-style browser-focused device rather than a traditional Android tablet (manageable, given its big screen), and this could be the first Huawei device running Android in over a year that isn't crippled by the app experience.

We consider the MatePad 10.4 (2022) to be a weirdly configured tablet. In some aspects, it’s “premium” like its crisp and vibrant screen, immersive quad-speakers, LTE connectivity, large battery, and the exclusive Huawei software features. However, the old chipset and small RAM held us back from liking it so much, especially if you consider the PHP 18,999 price tag. People will definitely look around for alternatives. Still, the MatePad 10.4 (2022) is a nice addition to your Huawei ecosystem. And if you purchase within the promo period (May 6 to 15, which we hope they can extend), you’ll get a free HUAWEI M-Pencil and HUAWEI Smart Keyboard. But if you’re not in the ecosystem, I still recommend looking at other tablets in the price range. They might offer more hardware for almost the same price.

The Huawei MatePad 10.4 is an excellent all-rounder device that ticks all the right boxes: design, build, display, software, and power. Some of these it accomplishes with flying colors, while some could still be improved. The lack of a 3.5mm audio jack bothers us a bit more than it would on a smartphone, but the inclusion of a microSD card more than makes up for it. The software is improving at an eyewatering rate, but there is still room. Nonetheless, we would be happy to own one and use it on an everyday basis. We believe that the average person would too.

In the past, we’ve struggled to review Huawei’s premium tablets given they compete head-on with the best from Apple and Samsung. While their hardware has been reliably excellent, the lack of Google is an issue for the West. Now, Huawei has offset this inconvenience with value, launching the well-specced MatePad (2022), which checks a lot of boxes despite its low price.

The MatePad Pro 11 is an affordable premium tablet with stylus support and an AMOLED display. There are a couple of drawbacks, since it is a Huawei device: It comes without Google services and does not support 5G. Does the low price make up for these compromises?
Source: Trusted Reviews

The Huawei MatePad Pro 11 is a fine tablet rendered hard to recommend to most people thanks to the same issue that has killed Huawei phones in the West. It doesn’t have Google apps or services, meaning no access to Google Play. This might not be a big issue with an affordable tablet. The Amazon Fire range does just fine without Google Play. However, the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 is not a budget tablet. You’re either going to be regularly reminded of the lack of quality apps on Huawei’s AppGallery, or you’re a person who probably shouldn’t be buying a tablet this high-end in the first place. And if we forget that software issue? I don’t love the plastic casing. Not at this price. But the major negatives all hinge on the reliance on Huawei’s alternatives to Google software, which still don’t stack up all that well in the west.

That's an excellent question. Based on my experience with this tablet, my answer is a resounding "Yes." The biggest downside to your experience of the MatePad Pro 11 might be the lack of Google applications. For some, this won't be an issue—YouTube will happily run in the browser, as will Gmail. But if you're looking for native app integration, you'll need to look elsewhere. The MatePad Pro 11 is great... as long as you're not strictly married to the Google ecosystem. The keyboard is fabulous as well, allowing for speedy typing. However, I recommend turning off the word suggestions as they can get annoying quickly, especially when typing in email addresses and passwords. The M-Pencil is also a fun tool to use as well. When you're not using it, just pop it on the side of the tablet to charge. The combination makes for an ideal replacement for your laptop while on the go. All in all, the Huawei MatePad Pro is an excellent choice for a tablet. From the accessories to the impressive screen, from the responsiveness to the fantastic battery life, you can't go wrong with this choice.

There's no better way to put it; the Huawei MatePad Pro 11-inch (2022) is a mixed bag. You get top-tier specs and a premium build through and through. Harmony OS comes with so many excellent features, but you're locked out if you don't have a Huawei phone or laptop. It's so easy to fall for that lovely display and astonishingly good speaker setup, but then there's the conflicting app ecosystem and lack of Google Play Services that you need to swallow.

The MatePad Pro 11's one glaring flaw is evident before you even get to experience the tablet itself - it's the lack of Google backing. So if you're at all reliant on the Google app suite, or apps that require Google Play Services to run, there's not much point in considering this particular tablet. However, we'd argue the limitations are much easier to live with on a tablet than on your smartphone. If this doesn't bother you, the MatePad Pro 11 is a nicely capable and very appealing offering. It's got one of the best displays on a tablet and possibly the fastest charging we've encountered on one, fast enough to make the so-so battery life barely a mention in the cons section. HarmonyOS may not be Google's Android, but you'll find a wide-ranging selection of the most used apps in Huawei's AppGallery. The proprietary features are useful and well thought out, and the optional stylus and keyboard make for a very versatile productivity/creativity package. The nice speakers are also a plus, as is the better-than-average camera system. The compact dimensions and low weight don't hurt either, though if you're after an 11-inch tablet, perhaps you're willing to accept some concessions in terms of bulk and heft. All in all, the MatePad Pro 11 is worth a recommendation... Provided you can find one, which isn't straightforward in Europe, much less in the US.

The MatePad Pro 11 gets plenty right on the hardware front: a beautiful screen, stellar sound, and dependable battery life. It takes a decent photo, too – not always a given when it comes to tablets, even pricey ones. There are some rough edges on the software side, though. As multitasking-friendly as HarmonyOS 3 is, rival tabs have set a higher bar, and there’s still the the extra hoops to jump through because of the lack of Google services. We don’t either are a total dealbreaker, but shouldn’t be overlooked by anyone not at least a familiar with APKs. It’s a whole lot more wallet-friendly than an iPad Pro, though, and also undercuts the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. That alone could make it worth a look for anyone after a do-it-all slate.

Starting at €649 the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 (2022) is not cheap by any means. However, Huawei did a great job with it. This tablet runs really smoothly, even during those prolonged gaming sessions, and all that despite the fact it doesn’t have the latest and greatest SoC. It has a great display with excellent touch response, and really fluid software. Even its cameras are serviceable, and if you do choose to get some accessories for it, you won’t be sorry. However, if you do install tons of obscure apps on your devices, or need some specific ones that are not available in the AppGallery, well, you may have a problem. You can always sideload, but be careful while you do it. Google apps are also out of the question. What I’m trying to say is, the main problem with the tablet is caused by the US ban on Huawei. This product, on its own, is really great, and premium-feeling. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth it to you.

The Huawei MatePad Pro 11 (2022) is a relatively versatile tablet as we found in our review of it for the Philippines, thanks to its beautiful and color-accurate display, neat multi-tasking tricks, M-Pen integration, and easy-to-use keyboard. Probably the only thing that’ll hold you back is its price tag, though to be fair its sticker price is pretty close to its other competitors in the tablet space.

The Huawei MatePad SE is an inexpensive tablet for home use. The low weight and the metal chassis cannot hide the fact that buyers have to live with the limitations of all current Huawei devices. Our detailed review reveals whether we can still recommend the tablet.

The MatePad SE 10.4 is hardly a solution for everyone. But it does have something that will help it win a niche in the market – great ergonomics and a cool screen, so it will be a handy solution as a tablet for study or work. The outright weak cameras don’t really matter when choosing this type of device, but the not-so-best battery life does undermine the chances of success for the Huawei MatePad SE 10.4. Oddly enough, despite the lack of Google services, I agree to give the tablet a pretty high score for its software. That’s because the Harmony OS 3 shell is very user-friendly, well-designed and glitch-free. This is what makes the tablet tear apart the competitors in the slightly lower price segment. And it beats the top competitors at the expense of price. So that is the formula for success among a wider range of consumers. The MatePad SE 10.4 is hardly a solution for everyone. The MatePad SE is a fairly good offering in the Philippines, as this entry-level tablet covers all the basics one looks for. It improves on the MatePad T10s, especially with its use of a more capable Snapdragon 680 processor that helps both perform better with general productivity work and in making the most out of its battery.

Well, at a price point of around ten thousand Philippine pesos, I’d say it’s for everyone. It’s specifically for anyone who wants or needs a tablet at a very affordable barrier to entry. Who isn’t this for? This isn’t for the power users, the people who use tablets as laptop replacements, or do a lot of productivity work on a tablet. But for those who want a simple tablet to leave in the kitchen to look-up recipes and instructional videos while cooking, maybe something to lend to the kids when they want to play some games in the car, or just simply an IPS display dedicated for consuming media. The Huawei Matepad SE is good enough for you, and should be your minimum standard.
