Heybike has come to CES 2025 to unveil the Alpha as its first-gen Galaxy Perform S eDrive e-bike. The new in-house system apparently augments a Mivice X700 mid-drive motor and sensor for up to 105 newton-meters of torque to make cycling with it as "smooth and effortless" as possible.
The OEM asserts that the combination is rated to reduce the 'latency' between starting to pedal and the Alpha's power kicking in for assistance, especially compared to that of an e-bike with a traditional hub-mounted motor. Then again, the X700 is rated for 500 watts (W), compared to 750W in the Alpha's immediate Hero predecessor.
The OEM does insist that the newer model will be as efficient as possible with the energy it has, helping the user conquer both hills and sharp turns with ease as a result.
Heybike also hints that the Alpha also represents the acme of comfort in e-biking, yet has made reference to only 1 form of suspension (frontal) in hyping it thus far.
Then again, the bike is also touted for stability on any surface with 26 x 4-inch tires, and for safety as well as power with its UL2849-certified 680Wh battery and hydraulic disc brakes.
On the other hand, the new e-bike is fitted with a Shimano Altus derailleur, whereas most older e-bikes get one for 7 speeds, and will come with a full-color Smart LCD display in the midline of its handlebars.
The Alpha will also come in 2 "styles": one with a Pearl White step-through frame and another that will be a Galaxy Black step-over variant (with no interchangeability in those colors, apparently).
Both versions are listed with front and rear fenders and a rear rack as standard, and are rated for a maximum payload of 400lb (~181 kilograms). However, neither of them are equipped with anything more cutting-edge such as a carbon belt or advanced security features.
Nevertheless, Heybike is keeping us in suspense as to the Alpha's pricing and availability for now, although the company is currently hyping early-bird initiatives such as the chance to pay a $50 deposit to lock a $150 discount down once the bike is released.
