The Decathlon Rockrider E-ACTV 100 e-bike has been revealed in Europe. This upcoming e-bike has been described by the brand as a ‘price-first’ model, offering a solid set of features for just €999. For example, it offers up to 70 km (~44 miles) assistance range, a suspension fork and Bluetooth connectivity.

Decathlon has unveiled the Rockrider E-ACTV 100 e-bike at a press event in France, according to reports. This is a new entry-level model for the E-ACTV electric bicycle series, following various E-ACTV 500 and E-ACTV 900 bikes.

The Decathlon Rockrider E-ACTV 100 e-bike will be priced at €999, making it €1,000 cheaper than the mid-range E-ACTV 500. The company goes so far as to describe it as a ‘price-first’ electric bike designed for commuting or leisure rides. As such, Decathlon has cut some costs, like choosing a cheaper saddle and not including a luggage rack. However, this e-bike still offers impressive features for its price.

The E-ACTV 100 is powered by a rear-hub motor with up to 45 Nm torque; presumably, the top assistance speed is capped at 25 kph (~16 mph). There are a range of assistance modes like Eco and Boost, and the motor is accompanied by a rotation or motion sensor in place of the pedal sensor used in its predecessors. The bike is fitted with a 356 Wh battery, said to provide up to 70 km (~44 miles) range in assistance mode. Also included is a 6-speed Microshift transmission, a suspension fork with 60 mm (~2.4 inches) travel, Tektro mechanical disc brakes and 48 mm (~1.9 inches) wide all-terrain tires.

Accessories include fenders, front and rear lights and a control unit. The latter shows the remaining battery level and can be used to switch the bike on or off, adjust the assistance mode and control the lighting. Plus, thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, you can view further journey information in the Decathlon Ride smartphone app. The bike, which will be available with high and low frames and various sizes, is said to weigh around 23 kg (~50.7 lbs) and is suitable for riders between 155 and 200 cm (~5’ 8” and 6’ 6”) tall.

The Decathlon Rockrider E-ACTV 100 e-bike is expected to launch in France in mid-March. A support page for this upcoming model can be found on Decathlon’s website in Germany. The manual here indicates that the e-bike could also be available in other European countries like Spain and Italy.
