Decathlon has revealed the Btwin F900E Box Cargo Bike in Europe. It follows the F900E Family electric cargo bicycle, which launched last June. The main difference between these two models is that the Family version is designed to help you transport children, while the Box edition is suited to carrying luggage.
The Btwin F900E Box Cargo Bike supports a total of 200 kg luggage, with up to 27 kg on the luggage rack and up to 115 kg in the front 105 L box. The bicycle itself is said to weigh 50 kg and has a total length of 2,589 mm (~102 inches). The low step-through aluminum frame has a suspension fork with 50 mm travel and is equipped with a Ringlock to block the wheel.
Like its predecessor, this model is powered by a Brose S Mag motor with 250W nominal power and 90 NM torque. The motor can assist you at speeds up to 25 kph (~16 mph), with four modes and a torque sensor. This is accompanied by the 630Wh battery, fully recharging in four hours. The maximum range estimate is 80 km (~50 miles) in Eco mode.
There are 20-inch front and 26-inch rear tires with Tektro MH535 hydraulic disc brakes. A color display on the stem shows information like the remaining battery level and assistance mode, and, thanks to a 4G/GPS box, you can view the location of your e-bike and further journey statistics in the accompanying app. However, it is worth noting that this feature is free for the first year, charged at €2 per month thereafter. Other accessories include a kickstand, fenders, a headlight and rear lights.
The Decathlon Btwin F900E Box Cargo Bike is listed for £4,999.99 in the UK, the same price as the original model. In EU countries like the Netherlands, France, and Spain, the product pages show a €4,299.99 RRP, €700 less than the €4,999 cost of the Family version. While the F900E Box is not available online in most countries at the time of writing, customers in the Netherlands can currently pre-order the electric cargo bike for delivery from March 26th.
