Decathlon has listed the BTWIN Electric Family Cargo Bike F900E on its European websites following its announcement last year. The model is designed for larger families with a Long John cargo carrier at the front which includes a two-person bench and a one-person folding seat. It also has a door, windshield, and retractable rain protector.
A fourth child could be in a baby seat fitted to the F900E’s pannier rack at the rear. The maximum capacity, excluding the bike’s weight, is 184 kg (~405 lbs), with a 27 kg (~60 lbs) maximum on the pannier rack and 101.5 kg (~225 lbs) at the front. The cargo bike is powered by a mid-mounted 250W Brose S Mag motor offering up to 90Nm torque and a top assistance speed of 25 kph (~16 mph). A 630Wh lithium-ion battery allows you to ride with assistance for between 40 and 80 km (25 and 50 miles), fully recharging in four hours.
On top of that, a color display shows information such as the time and remaining battery level, and it can connect to your smartphone via 4G for GPS tracking. It is worth noting that the first year of this service is free, charged at €2 (~£1.70) per month after that. An aluminum suspension fork with 50 mm travel improves ride comfort, and Tektro MH535 hydraulic disc brakes provide powerful braking in various weather conditions. Other features include a ringlock-type frame lock, storage compartments, a headlight, mudguards and a kickstand.
The BTWIN e-bike has a low step-through frame in a taupe shade named Frozen Brown, suited to anyone between 1.55 and 1.95 m (~5’1” and 6’4”) tall. The Decathlon BTWIN Electric Family Cargo Bike F900E will retail in Europe for around €4,999.99/£4,999.99. However, the model is currently out of stock; it is unclear when the e-bike will go on sale.
