Verdict — Keeping It Simple For The Office
As a relatively inexpensive business laptop, we don't expect very much from the Dynabook Tecra A65-M beyond the solid fundamentals like build quality, serviceability, and ease of use. The model excels in all three albeit the soft keyboard and clickpad can take some getting used to when compared to a proper desktop setup. Its respectable raw processor performance deserves a mention especially when thinner or more expensive alternatives can ship with slower CPUs.
The most disappointing aspects of the Tecra A65-M are arguably its narrow color reproduction and weak GPU and AI performance. The limited colors are understandable to preserve affordable starting prices, but there should at least be a second panel option with full sRGB colors for those who require it. As for the CPU, sticking with Zen 4 allows the model to preserve as much raw performance as possible without resorting to the more expensive Zen 5 series, but its aging integrated GPU and limited AI acceleration make the system less-than-ideal when for running more advanced tasks involving Co-Pilot+ or graphics editing software.

Price and Availability
The Dynabook Tecra A65-M is not yet widely available for purchase. Nonetheless, the Tecra A60-M powered by Intel is now shipping with essentially the same chassis design and physical features of the Tecra A65-M for approximately $1020 on Amazon.
Announced early last month alongside the 14-inch Dynabook Tecra A45-M, the 16-inch Tecra A65-M is a value-oriented laptop designed for professionals or office-oriented users. The models run on AMD Ryzen 200 series CPUs with optional Pro SKUs to complement the Intel-powered A40-M and A60-M series.
Our test unit is a mid-range configuration with the Zen 4 Ryzen 7 250 CPU, 32 GB of removable RAM, and a 1920 x 1200p FHD 60 Hz IPS display for approximately $1300. Lower-end SKUs ship with the Ryzen 5 230, but all options are limited to the same 1200p matte IPS panel.
The affordable Tecra series complements the higher-end Portege series in the Dynabook lineup of professional laptops. Direct competitors include other budget-oriented business laptops like those from the Lenovo ThinkPad E series or the HP EliteBook 6 series.

Specifications
Case
The chassis is largely matte polycarbonate instead of metal alloy and so it flexes more readily. It's nonetheless certified for MIL-STD-810H standards to be suitable for professional environments.
Connectivity
There is a respectable number of integrated ports including RJ-45 and multiple USB-A ports unlike on the EliteBook 8 G1a 16. However, the ports along the left edge can feel quite cramped.

Sustainability
Although Dynabook states a "major commitment" to reducing environmental impact, we can find no data on recycled materials used during manufacturing. The packaging still utilizes plastic wrapping for the AC adapter and laptop itself.
Accessories And Warranty
There are no extras in the box other than the AC adapter and paperwork. A three-year limited manufacturer warranty comes standard.
Input Devices
Display
There is only one display option with the choice between touch or non-touch. Unfortunately, this IPS panel is a lower-end version with narrow color space, 60 Hz refresh rate, and only average contrast and black-white response times. While perfectly suitable for most office scenarios, you're going to want a display with at least full sRGB coverage for more color-sensitive applications.

CPU performance is where we expect it to be relative to other laptops with the same Ryzen 7 250 option. Raw multi-thread performance is roughly 30 to 35 percent faster than the well-received Core Ultra 7 258V, but both iGPU and NPU performances are far behind.

GPU Performance
Graphics performance is about 40 percent slower than the average laptop in our database with the same integrated Radeon 780M option. The discrepancy can largely be attributed to the single-channel RAM setup of our configured test unit. We absolutely recommend running in dual-channel mode with two individual RAM sticks whenever possible to maximize iGPU performance.
F1 24 would consistently crash when set to High graphics or better on our unit and so their results are left empty below.
