Reports indicate that the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete has weaker than expected battery life. This is one of the brand’s latest robot vacuum and mops, boasting 20,000 Pa suction power, dual mopping and ProLeap technology to climb obstacles up to 6 cm (~2.4 inches) tall. It was officially unveiled at CES 2025, with an early prototype on show at IFA 2024.
The first users of the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete robot vacuum have spoken on Reddit and YouTube about worse battery life performance compared to other models. According to the Dreame website, the X50 Ultra’s 6,400 mAh battery should allow it to run for up to 220 minutes in Quiet Mode, with an estimated cleaning area of 205 m² (~2,207 ft²) on a single charge. This is the same size battery used in its predecessor, the X40 Ultra Complete, but the maximum running time for this older model is higher at 260 minutes.
However, users indicate that compared to older models like the X40 Ultra, battery drainage has more than doubled. For example, one person states that cleaning their apartment with a robot vacuum typically uses 25% of the battery, but the new Dreame model, running in Clean Genius mode, uses up 43%. There are similar stories from other users. Plus, Reddit user u/IPTV241 estimates that the battery drains a percentage for each minute it is running; this would mean a 100-minute runtime in Clean Genius mode, less than half the top estimate and below the industry standard.
These reports suggest that the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete may not be suitable for larger homes, or those who need to clean a larger area quickly. If you do not require the new climbing ability, you could consider the older Dreame X40 Ultra Complete (curr. $1,599.99 at Amazon).
