Earlier this year, DJI jumped on the power station train with the launch of the DJI Power 1000 and DJI Power 500, arriving as contenders to power stations from rivals such as Bluetti and Ecoflow. It has now launched a 1kW car charger that can charge a power station using excess energy generated by the alternator.
With the DJI Power 1KW Super Fast Car Charger, owners will be able to charge the DJI Power 1000 which has a 1024Wh battery after about 78 minutes of driving, a significant reduction from the 11 hours when using a car's power outlet (car power outlet to SDC power cable). DJI says the super fast car charger is factory-set to charge at 500W from the factory. However, to reach the max 1000W, owners will have to purchase the DJI Power Dongle and also change the settings in the app. The DJI Power Dongle costs $25 but DJI is including it as a gift when you purchase the DJI Power 1kW Super Fast Car Charger.
The 1kW Super Fast Car Charger can also be configured to recharge the car's battery to prevent a battery drain. DJI says the charger is compatible with both 12V and 24V car systems. However, the input voltage of the car charging terminals mustn't exceed 45V. It is also important to note that the DJI Power 1kW Super Fast Car Charger doesn't have dust and water resistance, so it is advised that it is installed in a safe part of the vehicle where it won't get damaged.
The DJI Power 1KW Super Fast Car Charger has a price tag of $299 in the US, €269 in Europe, and £229 in the UK. Included in the box is the charger, a 70A car charging cable, a fuse box, a 100A fuse, an M5 screw, and an M4 screw.
