Anker has pushed an update to the older Solix Solarbank E1600, meaning it will now work with the newer Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro and Solarbank 2 E1600 Plus balcony power stations. The original E1600 launched in 2023, with the Solarbank 2 models following earlier in 2024.
This previously announced upgrade for the Anker Solix Solarbanks was reported after users updated to Anker app version 3.3.2. The release notes at the Apple App Store only state that functions are optimized without detailing what changes have been made. It is unclear whether there are other undocumented improvements with this release.
When connected, the Solarbank E1600 will act as a battery expansion pack for the Solarbank 2. Benefits include the ability to connect more photovoltaic (PV) modules, or the older device can be used as an input source. Plus, it removes system compatibility issues linked to some third-party microinverters. On top of this, you can now link the first-generation device to a smart meter. The Anker Solix Solar Bank 2 E1600 Plus is currently available at Amazon in European countries like Germany for €749.
