Pearl Abyss will demo its open-world hit Crimson Desert at Gamescom 2026 using Samsung's upcoming Odyssey G8 6K dual-mode monitor.

Pearl Abyss is going all out for Gamescom 2026, teaming up with Samsung to showcase Crimson Desert on some incredibly high-end hardware. If you are heading to Cologne from August 26 through August 30, you can catch the public hands-on demo in Hall 09.1 at Stand B020–C029.

The big draw here, aside from playing Crimson Desert, is the display tech it is running on. Samsung is showcasing its new 32-inch Odyssey G8 monitor, which, as per Samsung, is the first 6K screen on the market to feature a "Dual Mode toggle." This lets players instantly swap between a sharp, native 6K presentation at 165Hz or turn the resolution down to 3K to hit the 330Hz refresh rate for fast-paced combat. The exhibition space will also feature standard convention events, including live stage shows, community gear giveaways, and professional cosplayers.

Technical sessions and the BlackSpace Engine

Before the main show floor opens, Pearl Abyss will be attending the Gamescom dev conference from August 23 to August 25 at the Koelnmesse facility. The studio's art and graphics leads are hosting two deep-dive technical presentations to explain exactly how they built the world of Pywel.

In the first panel, art lead Geun-tae Ahn will break down how actual player movement patterns shaped the map layout, alongside the automated tools used to keep the art style consistent. The second session features graphics leads Jin-hwan Kim and Jin-ho Yoon, who will dive into their custom BlackSpace Engine. They plan to show off the procedural generation tools and biome placement systems that let the team build a dense, massive environment without losing artistic control or regional identity.

This massive European push makes perfect sense, business-wise, given how well Crimson Desert is doing financially. Since launching back in March, Crimson Desert has already cleared 6 million copies sold worldwide in just its first three months on shelves. That gives the developers a massive amount of momentum as they head to the show floor.

In related news, Gears of War: E-Day will be playable at Gamescom 2026.
